We stayed at North Lodge for two nights to finalise details of our forthcoming wedding. On arrival, we were warmly greeted by Joanne, the joint owner and showed to our room. We were invited to have have tea and coffee outside in the jazebo with scones! As first impressions go, none could be better! We were then joined by Stuart, the other owner who we found to be just as warm and friendly, and very knowledgeable of the local area. Throughout our stay we felt we could not be more accomodated with some great ideas of places to go and to eat (the Marshbank Hotel was a great tip for dinner!). The rooms were clean, tidy and tastefully decorated and the location was close to Gretna and links to go out and about the local area. By the end of our stay we felt more like personal guests than paying customers. If there ever was a place to stay locally, then this must be your first choice!
P.S. You must have the breakfast!

Found North Lodge on the internet as we wanted a stop over travelling from Poole on our way to Fort William. Absolutley fantastic! On arrival we were welcomed by Stuart, our host, and our bag was carried in. It's a long time since that's happened! After a cup of tea and scones I started to revive after the drive. Our room was large with a kingsize bed and double bath. Parking was off road and secure and in the evening we had a lovely time overlooking the massive pond with a bottle of wine. We even saw a Kingfiher! Our room was spotless, warm and quiet and if I we wanted, free Wi Fi. Breakfast was exceptional, I had a full scottish and my wife tried salmon with scrambled eggs which looked and tasted great! We were really made to feel on holiday and will certainly return on future excursions north.

Stuart &Joanne are a really friendly down to earth couple, nothing is to much trouble and the way they share their home makes it feel like home from home. The smoked salmon scrambled eggs breakfast has GOT TO BE TRIED!!!
