“Everything that you want, excellent rooms, good homemade food, a Little Gem of Tranquility”

Having read the other two reviews that are currently posted we can fully agree that this was an excellent choice. The surroundings are tranquil and there are good walks available. I believe that it is also a good base for fishing but this is something that I cannot confirm. The welcome was homely and relaxed. The scones and homemade strawberry jam a real delight, indeed I have never known my husband to have seconds but he did this time. The room did not disappoint, it was a good size and furnished beautifully with some carefully chosen little touches. We had an evening meal which was all freshly cooked and included local produce. Again my husband was well pleased especially with the rhubarb sponge and custard. Breakfast was equally good with fresh fruit, cereal and a range of cooked options.
Overall a very good experience and we would certainly visit again and recommend to friends.

Where do I start? The warm scones and home made jam on arrival, the beautifully appointed room, the wonderful breakfast, the friendly and helpful owners, the stunning countryside - everything was absolutely wonderful. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Byreburnfoot Country House.

If you are searching for peace and quiet, coupled with luxurious accommodation and top class personal service, this is for you. We took a short break of 3 days and did not regret one moment. From the minute we arrived we were so well looked after and shown to our luxurious room (better than many 5 star hotels we have stayed at). Afternoon refreshment was quickly offered and, although not part of the deal, dinner was also discussed. Set in a tranquil location, the hamlet of Byreburnfoot is very rural and the only noise was natural. Don't come here if you are looking for the bright lights and exciting things to do, but do come if you seek peace and quiet and the opportunity to wander in beautiful surroundings. Bill and Loraine were so welcoming, open and attentive and we would have no hesitation in returning at a later date; they are also about to open self-catering holiday cottages so more travellers will be able to benefit from the excellence of this care and attention. Do check out their website.
