“Simple yet super”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 July 2014

Stumbled upon here on our way to get the boat home after holidaying in Scotland... hadn't passed anywhere to eat in MILES and then came into New Galloway and The Smithy immediately caught both our attention - lovely little setting with outdoor seats and tables, shame it wasn't a nicer day. Staff were all very friendly and the freshly prepared and home cooked lunch was lovely (I had a toastie and my boyfriend a Panini with proper ham - he loved it). Despite it being a Wednesday lunch the place was full and had such a cosy and friendly atmosphere, a lovely finish to our holiday!

“Superb salad at The Smithy”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 July 2014

We have called at The Smithy every year we have been to Scotland and have found it welcoming and friendly. The food is beautiful, especially the roast duck salad. They serve good, strong coffee and also tasty cakes for a sweet snack. The Smithy has a little gift shop with classy items and also displays painting by local artists, which are spectacular. A real treat and we wouldn't miss it when we visit Scotland. Roll on the next holiday!

“Quaint, peaceful and very welcoming”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 June 2014

We stopped here in the middle of a power-cut, however despite there not being any cooked food available we were welcomed in and treated as if we were regulars.

We settled for salad and sandwiches and a slice of cake; it was a relaxing and very pleasant hour spend sat outside in the sun, next to a running stream.

Would love to visit again to sample their cooked produce - thanks girls!
