We visited the restaurant one Sunday with high hopes but also trepidation as we were taking our French friends with us who are used to good food. We were 4 adults and 3 children
The welcome was great but we were put in almost what appeared to be a side room. It wasn't very warm in the restaurant and there was little atmosphere as it was very quiet.
The starters were good although my Ham Hock wasn't quite what I expected being more of a pot of minced ham.
The main courses were limited. 3 of us had a roast dinner, two of the children had chicken nuggets but when we asked for an additional portion as one child ate his very quickly they had run out of nuggets! Two adults had fish, which appeared no more than a large portion of fish and chips as you would buy from the 'chippy'. The roast dinner was OK, but not very warm, and the vegetables bland and uninspiring, and not attractive as they had roast carrots which were burnt.
The desserts were lovely especially my parfait which was flavoured with lavender-it was amazing.
There was nothing we could really complain about but it was distinctly uninspiring meal, at a reasonable cost with not a lot to tempt us back.
