We have just stayed in this hotel, we were invited to a family Golden Wedding celebration. We arrived early for checking in, but we had rang and asked if it would be possible to do so as the celebration was to start at what would be normal checking in time we wanted to freshen up after quite a long journey, we were told that it would not be a problem. We actually arrived mid day, but out room was ready, and we were able to freshen up at our leisure.

The hotel was very clean and the décor was very nice, the staff were very nice and helpful, but my main praise must go to the food, we had a very good meal with out family celebration, really could not be faulted, and the following morning the breakfast was lovely, so nice to be served by lovely friendly staff a freshly cooked breakfast, so many places seem to go for the impersonal ' Buffet ' breakfast so it made a very nice change. We would not hesitate to book here again

An excellent hotel all round. All staff were very welcoming and helpful throughout. Hotel itself was most comfortable with a well sized superior twin room, warm and windows that open- not always a feature in these H & S days. Quiet. notwithstanding its closeness to the A38;acoustics were excellent. During our stay there was a large wedding reception with DJ entertainment, but we heard not a sound, not even the deep base notes which usually make many hotels throb.

The breakfasts and dinners were very good by both choice and cuisine standards and the small adjacent bar well stocked. One improvement would be to have artisan draught beers in addition to the current similar bottled beers.

And the gardens were delightful.

All in all, a most memorable and delightful three nights spell and one we shall be repeating when next in the Bristol area.

Room Tip: Pay a little more for the superior rooms, but the other rooms also looked good and comfortable

Now that our honeymoon is over and work has again taken over its time for me to write my review of our wedding venue, it's easy to be critical but it's much harder to write a review when every thing was so fantastic. From the moment we arrived on the Friday to the minute we left on the Sunday it was a weekend to remember. If what you require from your wedding is a relaxing time when all the worries normally associated with your special day are taken care of then this is the place for you. The hotel has that certain something , the food was excellent (and we had some special requirements that were well taken care of) with what was a first for me at a wedding every meal was hot ... A silly thing I know but how often does the last table served get the the same standard as the first. The staff were wonderful it's again a small thing but they all seemed to enjoy working there, I have always been of the impression that if the work force are happy then the customers will be ( maybe it's because I've worked for John Lewis for so long) . All the rooms are of a very good standard , some are bigger than others but this is only to be expected. The weekend package was very good value, we did upgrade the drinks and food package from the basic offer but they do give you plenty of choices and again the value was excellent ( the lamb shank was great) . They have a private garden which is a lovely little spot for your photos what more could you want. I could go on about the evening buffet, the breakfast etc etc but all I can say is give them a call or a visit its worth it. Again all I can say is thank you Alveston House and all you did to make our weekend so special. We will see you on our anniversary.

We spent one night at this hotel on our way to Cornwall and it was excellent. Not far from the motorway junctions set in a quiet residential location. The weather was fantastic on our arrival and we had afternoon tea in the garden which was excellent and very well presented. We had selected a superior double room which was on the ground floor and close to the hotel amenities and the garden which was a real bonus for our pet cocker spaniel. The restaurant was well laid out, tastefully decorated and our evening meal was first class with a good choice of food and fine wines. Breakfast was freshly cooked and to a very high standard. Without doubt from the telephone booking to our departure the staff were excellent, friendly and well organised and as they say nothing was too much trouble. We will definitely use this hotel again when we are in the area.

Room Tip: Go for the Superior rooms they are worth it!

Stopped here for lunch because it was in the middle for the two people meeting each other, found on Trip Advisor.
Our experience was very good and it was exactly what we were looking for as a venue for a lunch time meeting. We had baguettes and ciabattas with a side of fries which were presented well, tasted fresh and hit the spot, surprisingly the hotel restaurant was quiet but it was a Monday lunchtime. The service was efficient and helpful.
I would definitely use it as a venue again especially as there is a very nice looking golf club just around the corner!

One of the friendliest hotels I have ever stayed in. Food at breakfast was excellent and service was very good. Considering there was a wedding party there the service at breakfast was very good and we were unaware of any noise in our room even though the party was still going on when we arrived in the room.

But quite a small and generic room for the price and really surprised it was an independent hotel as the décor seemed very familiar from other chains?

Great hotel, but a little expensive.

The rooms are rather average but functional incl. free wifi.
However, the restaurant is providing really good food, which can be tasted already at breakfast.
The hotel also has a nice large garden, which provides space to relax!
The location is near the A38 in the north of Bristol, but still quiet in the night.

Room Tip: Some rooms are rather small and only have a shower (no bathtub).
