Good spot to rest your head and tour the surrounding district. The Restaurant, "the Ship Inn" offers good food at rteasonable prices but book in advance as it is rather busy. First stayed here in 1969 when it was a Trust House. It was just as good as we remembered all those years ago.

We use this Premier inn regularly, as it is close to relatives. Yes it is a quirky old motel style building, but the staff are always helpful and friendly, rooms clean and spacious and when purchased the breakfasts good value with lots of space in the dining room areas.

A lovely stopover from Yorkshire to Cornwall. At just over £60 for a family of four including breakfast we are happy. Room was a good size and all ready when we arrived (some other budget chains are more DIY when it comes to extra beds).

Reception staff were fab. A wifi problem was quickly resolved with an extra voucher given. They were particularly lovely to our children. Thanks to Michelle.

Yes, it's a sixties building but we loved it and the view of the cricket field was relaxing.

Breakfast was fine - nothing special, tho my partner really liked the sausages - but again the staff were warm and attentive. We ate early and there was a bit of a queue later but they were working hard to seat and serve everyone - they could have done with a third waiter but they kept smiling.

For me, friendliness and cleanliness are the most important things, and value of course, and we highly recommend this hotel as being much more personal and relaxing than the standard chain hotel. Book it!

The reception staff went the extra mile, and the rooms are clean, with comfortable beds. Could not fault it, and found the quirky design a pleasant break from the modern square blocks being built now. Mobile signal is a little hit and miss, but found EE gave me enough signal in the older part of the building, the newer part however was almost none existent. The breakfast varied from excellent to greasy, and timely to being forgotten, but the staff at the ship are all friendly and the evening meals are varied and tasty. Found the paid WIFI perfectly acceptable, although they did have problems on my day of arrival. Would I stay here again, yes it is already booked.

Room Tip: The older parts of the building have better mobile signal if this is important to you. This building has a very good Air Con system, very welcome in the current heat.
