West Kirby Marine Lake

West Kirby is a place for special light that makes it great for photographers trying to capture the sky and sunsets framed by the Flintshire coast and outline of Great Orme in the distance, or the speeding windsurfers. At low tide the Marine Lake appears to hover above the sand. There are good places to eat and relax nearby. One can quickly get up onto the sandstone ridge of Wirral to get a new perspective or walk out to the magical islands at low-tide (beware!). The Wirral is a great place for the outdoors, particularly walkers, sailors and golfers.

A lovely place to walk and chat with spectacular views. Natural beauty and gorgeous sunsets. Great for bird watchers, families, couples.
Very close to other landmark s in the area and prefect place for a stroll after dining out

My girlfriend and I are frequent visitors to the Marine Lake at West Kirby. It is always a good walk even if the water is lapping at your feet! It is handy for walking off a big meal or just for a pleasant or romantic hand in hand stroll to watch the sun set. If you are into dinghy sailing or windsurfing, then this place is an absolute must. The views across the River Dee are an added attraction. Good spot for bird watching as well.

Amazing lake for windsurfing best when not too busy and can rattle down the far straight - a real buzz

I just don't believe it. The notice prohibited swimming threatening, attacks by surf boards, quicksand, weeds, and the poisonous spices of weaver fish that lie hidden on the bottom awaiting the tender feet of tourists. The sea is miles out and yet what could be better than a cold water swim in the marine lake, yet the council is clearly too scared of litigation. I would have ignored he notice but somebody officious would have shouted at me. What a nanny state we live in!
