“Great Wedding Venue”
Reviewed 7 July 2014

We came to attend a wedding and we were really impressed with everything. The location was good, the function room was super. Service and food quality were also excellent. The bar staff were very friendly and really helpful. The prices of some of the drinks was a bit high but that seems to always be the case with this type of venue.

Booked to stay having visited the historic village which was excellent. Like other reviewer we had what I suspect was the smallest room despite the hotel being almost empty. Room was clean but no soap or shower gel in the bathroom which was odd - soap was provided when asked but still odd in a 4 star hotel. Wardrobe doors were also damaged and wouldn't close - not a real issue just slightly annoying as they are behind the door into the room.
Had a really nice meal in the restaurant and good recommendation of well priced house red wine from "Sam" who is a credit to the hotel in the service he gives. Chef also came and chatted about the dishes which was nice, but possibly only possible due to how quiet it was!
Nice fresh breakfast the next day nothing too much trouble ( again Sam - thank you) and easy checkout.
Grounds are a work in progress with extensive building work taking place but there is still a nice part to sit in though with chairs and umbrellas.
Overall good for what we paid but some things need a bit of attention to detail.
Would we go back - probably - it's a really nice building, the history of it is interesting and the decoration is quirky and unusual.

Really lovely staff, gorgeous small hotel in the lovely Port sunlight. Hotel and grounds are gorgeous. The building is amazing and has been very beautifully renovated. Our room was clearly one of the smallest it was spotlessly clean, tasteful and with a comfy bed. It was great to open windows and not have air con buzzing all night. No tea and coffee facilities but on checking out I spotted a sign telling us that tea and coffee could be brought to the room at no extra cost. Breakfast was very good and the evening meal was very good indeed. Was great to sit in the gardens with a glass of sparkling wine before my meal.
Would def recommend the hotel, it was on the expensive side but felt luxurious and relaxing.

Room Tip: Ask for an upgrade, the cheapest room was small and the hotel didn't seem busy.

We stayed here on a visit to see Port Sunlight village and it's history. The hotel is beautifully designed, the rooms are a very high quality and beds really comfortable. The staff are great, we had a fantastic evening meal served by a charming Italian waiter and bright and talented chef.
The breakfast was also great.
Cannot praise enough.
Ps could not remove rating for n/ a swimming pool and fitness centre so left as excellent!

My wife, Barbara and I had an early evening meal here on Monday 26th May, as a gift from our neighbours. Lovely warm welcome from friendly staff followed by a truly special meal cooked to perfection. We were then treated to a tour of the place by a lovely lady who explained the fascinating history of this converted hospital which has been treated with great respect to its past. All in all a great experience, thanks a lot, we'll be back.

We took our parents here for afternoon tea, it was very impressive as the venue and staff were lovely, it's a bit of a hidden gem as it was quiet but it means it is relaxing and you can enjoy the surroundings even more.
The ladies who looked after us were really great and especially kind to our little girl who had hurt her finger and was a bit stressed! Big thank you for making it a special afternoon, the food and service were great - love the decor and the quality.
