I have just returned home from staying two nights at the Liver View with my son, as we had tickets for a game at Anfield. Firstly we don't recognise the place from the recent negative review. We had a great stay and really couldn't fault it. All the important points were covered; very friendly welcome, clean room, really comfy beds, good bathroom facilities and a truly excellent breakfast. I had asked if we could have a room with a view and there was a great view across the river to the Liver Building. Okay, so the building is quite old and is gradually being renovated (currently work on the roof) but this didn't negatively affect our stay in any way. We think the Liver View is fantastic value for money, the owners deserve every success (their dog is sweet too) and we would happily recommend to anyone. In terms of getting around, the ferry to Liverpool is really handy (about 2 minutes walk away) although it doesn't run as frequently at weekends. The nearest Merseyrail station is easily walkable, but considerably further (it took us about 40 minutes but we were probably quite slow). The trains currently run about every 15 minutes into Liverpool until late and we found the saver day tickets really useful.

We planned to stay here for two nights, but decided to leave after half an hour in our room... The room was very basic (but that would not have been a problem), and dirty. The lamps were covered in dust, the bathroom was smudgy and the shower door was sticky. We found hairs everywhere and wondered whether the room was cleaned after the last visitors. Maybe they only made the beds? We requested a quiet room, but got a room near the road and even with the windows closed there was a lot of noise from the traffic.
The only positive thing was the host (mother of the owner) who was very friendly.
We cannot understand why this hotel has got so many positive reviews. Our opinion: do not go there!

The owners of this hotel go above and beyond what is usually expected of any hotel and made us feel very welcome (Along with their very cute dog).

Sure its got its issues (Currently being redecorated so possibly being addressed) as well as nowhere to hang a towel in the bathroom, or that the shower unit really is TOO BIG for the bathroom and takes up to much of it, but its cheap and in a good location (for the ferry and bus anyway).

Decent quality ingredients used in the full English breakfast. Comfortable bed.

Its worth noting that the first Seacombe ferry isn't until 10.30am to get you over to Liverpool and the last one to get you over to Liverpool is 6.30pm so you will need to either get a taxi, bus or train if its after/before this time if you don't want to drive yourself (The train station is about a 35 minute walk away form the Hotel).

Its also worth noting that on a Saturday there is no direct bus to Liverpool until 630pm (Crazy eh).

I would advise you buy an "Saveaway" ticket (About £4.00) and travel off peak all day and night on ferries, trains and buses. This is not advertised anywhere and you can't buy it "Onboard", but look it up online, it does exist.

So to sum up about The Liver View a great hotel with excellent customer service.

having stayed in lots of different hotels in Europe, inlcuding 4 star establishments I have to say that this hotel is the best of the best, It is a privatly owned hotel , and the friendlyiest of hotels you could ever wish to stay in Hayley and Dave are the hosts, and cannot fault these guys in any way, nothing is too much trouble for them to make your stay the most enjoyable one that you will ever experiance.
The hotel is clean, comfortable, and the best value you will find in the area, the breakfasts are as Dave describes them, "amazing" good portions and well cooked, and allways served with a smile and a few friendly words, one thing you will notice about Dave is that he has a permanant smile on his face, always full of fun and never miserable, and as he is also the owner any issues that you may have will be sorted out in a very short space of time. David took over this establishment about 4 1/2 years ago, he has made some major improvements to the building, but he is also the first to admit that there is still quite a bit that he wants to do, his next major project is the roof!!! this is already under way, But to sum up "THE LIVER VIEW" its clean, friendly, excellent value for money, with great food and a good bar at reasonable prices, if your wanting to stay in the Wallasy area you cant do better than to stay at this "amazing" hidden gem on The Wirrall , behind that 1926 facade you will be very surprised at the quality of what ls on the inside of this Victorian building frontage, all in all you will find it is as i found " A HOME FROM HOME" Tony

What a great place to stay and relax. Although most of my weekend was in Liverpool the Liver View hotel is in a quite area and worth the extra time spent getting back. Just cross the Mersey on the ferry from pier head to seacombe and it's about 2 mins to walk to the hotel. A good sign about the place you're staying is the only available room left is a family room. Full. A warm welcome from Haley who showed me to my room. Nice big room due to the 4 beds, L shaped bathroom, small flat screen tv on the wall with freeview, stuff for brews and plenty of storage space. A freshly made full english tasted great. Dave does all the cooking and seeing to the guests at breakfast on his own, but, as he quoted " I love it ". Dave and Haley are only a young couple but are definitely doing an awesome job.

Stayed for one night during the week. Dave made me feel very welcome, as did Briscoe the dog. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was badboy! I'd definitely stay at the Liver View again.
