“Friendly staff, good evening meals wouldn't rush back though”
Reviewed 11 June 2012

My husband and I went for a 2 night break, end of last week, for our anniversary. They were very welcoming and we were given the option of whether we would prefer a room nearer the bar and restuarant with only a shower or one further away but also had a bath. We opted for the one with a bath, the walk was fine but I could imagine walking through the walkways in the winter could be very chilly. All of the staff were extremely friendly and the evening meals in the restuarant were delicious. The decor could definitely do with an update as it looks like its been sometime since it's been decorated. The swimming pool seems quite small for the amount of rooms and we weren't able to sit on a lounger. They have recently extended the spa and I found they struggled to cope with the amount of bookings they had taken, it didn't come across as very organised.

Thank you for you recent review and your kind comments relating to the staff and restaurant. We are now beginning to understand the spa booking patterns since we added the additional treatments rooms and this will enable us to manage the volume of business at peak times. By doing this the pool area will be sufficient for all our guests.

Third time staying at Q Hotels and again we were not dissapointed. Friendly staff, many of them young but all went out of their way to help, always polite, a credit to the business. Pool and Steam Room were excellent, perfect to wind down at the end of the day. Food in the hotel was first class, especially the Scenes Restaraunt, ate there twice and each time was excellent.
Look forward to going back!!

Just had a weekend trip with my family to the Winchester area and came away very impressed with this hotel. Lovely buildings, surrounds and facilities and large, light and spacious rooms. Above all though, the staff have obviously been very well-trained and the service was impeccable - not only courteous and efficient, but friendly, helpful and personal too, which is quite hard to achieve in a non-boutique, chain style hotel. The receptionists were really top-class, especially the young guy who was there this weekend, remembering our names and details of our trip at all times.

A very large hotel complex with 170 plus rooms, most of them modern and in the new build but 15 in the old manor house which is full of old charm and woodwork. Beware of room 5 peony which is the size of an overgrown shoe box and has widows pointing directly at the ventilation fans of the new build which give off a very pervasive hum, all night and even ear plugs will not dampen it. Room 3, daffodil, on the opposite side of the manor is two or three times the size, has a king sized bed and Sky TV yet cost the same £149 per night – hum something wrong there!

The evening meal selection is basic and the quality matches, basic to poor but to be expected in an hotel of this size, mass catering for weddings, conferences and the twinset and mothball brigade, yes tour busses are welcome, bet they don’t pay the £100 plus starting prices of the standard rooms.

If you are happy to be part of the jeans and tea shirt set then you will feel right at home here personally I think I will stick to 4 star Gold Standard B&B’s in future, half the price and twice the quality.

I returned last week from this hotel where me and my mum had a 3 day leisure break booked through crusader holidays, overall we had a very enjoyable stay and would definately return again in the future. The check in was very efficiant and our room (131) was right near the swimming pool and spa facilities which was great! The room was nice although i have stayed in better 4 star rooms but it was clean and comfortable and had all the facilities you could want. Even had a bottle of wine in the room! The grounds the hotel is set in are just beautiful and the hotel as a whole is kept very clean. The dinners / breakfasts we had were the highlight for us as the food was lovely someone next to us complained of the veg being hard and not cooked enough but for me it was fine. The swimming pool area is very nice and pleasant my only gripe would be that the changing rooms could be bigger as these were on the small side. Beauty treatments we never had as very expensive ( double the price of beauty rooms near us ). Overall lovely time at this hotel.

Room Tip: If you want to be near the spa and swimming pool then room 131 would be good for this.

Fabulous hotel, lovely rooms, clean, friendly, spacious and loads of extra amenities.
Beautiful location, and I would recommend a walk down to the lake after breakfast.

I am delighted that you enjoyed your recent stay. I agree that the walk down to the lake, past the 16th century Thatched Barn and Manor House, should not be missed.

I look forward to welcoming you back to Norton Park soon.

This hotel needs smartening up. The staff were lovely and very helpful but the furniture and buildings are looking shabby. We paid £50 a room extra to stay in the manor house and although the rooms are a good size there are weeds araound the door, the panelling is damaged, the carpets are in great need of a clean or at least a hoover and for the first 24 hours we had to walk past the reamains of the previous occupants' stale sandwiches and dirty crockery despite asking for it to be moved. There had obvioulsy been a wedding as glasses were still on tables outside and on the ground by the time we left three days later. This part of the hotel could be beautiful but it it just feels dirty, scruffy and neglected. Nobody at the hotle asked if we had enjoyed our stay or I would have told them my views. The dining room is also in need of a makover, the tables and chairs are marked and out of date. We won't be coming back.

Room Tip: Don't pay extra for the manor house

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. May I apologise for the lack of attention to detail you experienced during your stay. There is no excuse for the Manor House not to kept clean and tidy at all times. Their are systems in place to ensure this happens and it is clear that over this period of time they failed. A new gardener commenced work last week and his fist priority is the Manor House. In all Qhotels their are a refurbishment plans in place and included in Norton Parks is the dining room furniture and areas of the Manor House.

May I apologise again
