Great Hallingbury Manor

We stayed here on a deal and it was excellent. Only downside was noise from planes but even that wasnt too bad. Our room was lovely, very clean and comfortable with a nice bathroom. Whole hotel was very clean with nice decor. The grounds were pleasant and would be lovely in the summer sun. Definately consider returning.

After being stuck on M25 for four hours this hotel is like an oasis. My room is stunning, the shower is so good I didn't want to get out and the staff are top class, nothing was too much for them. Would highly recommend.
Thank you,
.

Just had a long weekend here and it couldn't have been nicer! Despite its proximity to Stansted Airport and thus being under the flight path this hotel is set in a lovely garden with a lake and ducks, rabbits and fish galore. Planes stop flying overnight so you should still get a good night's sleep!

The staff couldn't have been friendlier or more attentive. The menu was good and all food was freshly prepared and delicious. Breakfasts offered a good choice with hot and cold breakfasts to choose from. Sunday breakfast included a hot buffet and everything WAS hot and fresh.

We stayed in the separate Stable block on the top floor and had a large room with a well fitted bathroom and big walk in shower. It was clean and well maintained and the only problem we found was that it was very warm with only Velux windows and little ventilation. Our particular room would probably have benefitted from air conditioning but others had opening door/windows so it wouldn't have been a problem there.

They say they are going to upgrade the Wifi provision in the hotel which is pretty essential for most visitors. It was available in most of the public areas of the main building but needed to be in all the rooms. To be honest, even mobile signals weren't great, which wasn't exactly the hotel's fault...

We would have no hesitation in visiting this hotel again if we were in the area.

Room Tip: Would try for a room in the stable block but with opening windows

I stayed here with my boyfriend to celebrate our anniversary. We found a really good deal on Groupon, it was the perfect little getaway. Hotel is surrounded by rabbits and has a lovely Lakeside Restaurant and a great menu!

Generally a good experience, grounds/ gardens kept well and are attractive. Afternoon tea reasonable value with good service. Would visit again. Also attended a Seminar there recently and the catering was good.

A really nice hotel, with a high end Ikea quality finish. We had a standard double room in the stable block with the same quality finish and, although compact, was still very nice. The staff were very helpful and friendly.
It is therefore a shame that I have to say that I will not be staying there again and nor will I recommend it to friends or family. As Lee829 said in his review it is "A hotel trying hard under the Stansted flight-path". This is no exaggeration, we were disturbed by an aircraft every few minutes as it took off and ascended directly over the hotel. When not disturbed by aircraft the peace was broken by noise of traffic, for a seemingly quiet country road it was incredibly busy. The walls were also paper thin which made it far too easy to hear what was happening in the neighbouring rooms. What I'm trying to say is, if you are hoping for a good nights sleep, whether you have a plane to catch or a meeting to attend, sadly you wont get it here!

Oh, and the only WiFi available is in the lobby and bar area unless you upgrade to a room in the main building.

Room Tip: Take ear muffs or an ideal hotel for the hearing impared.

Stayed here as an overnight stop due to a late flight. We had a fantastic room in the Stable Block which was a superior double. It was huge and great to have so much space. Would have loved to have stayed longer. Very modern bathroom with luxury fittings but I would suggest that a bit a bleach could be used in the loo!!
The bed was heaven - so comfy, I really did not want to get out. I wasn't quite ready for the nearness of the flight path but that all added to the interest. The hotel is set in lovely grounds and is very convenient for the airport. The taxi took about ten minutes and cost us £13.50.
The staff were polite and friendly, and we had a delicious breakfast with loads of choice, followed by a walk around the lake to burn off some of the calories. I would rather stay here than the corporate venues close to the airport.

Room Tip: Pay the extra and have the better rooms. I never did get the beamed room that I requested on booking...
