We stayed here for two nights, 11th & 12th July 2014. The hotel has a large rear car park with easy access to the reception. Reception were very helpful & polite, our room (Number 32) though was possibly the most basic room I have ever stayed in. There are no windows only a large velux rooflight which was just within reach, one chair, one table, one small clothes rail with three hangers, two bedside tables. There was no where to place folded clothes at all so we had to leave them in our suitcase. There was also no bedcover just a white duvet (even in travel lodges you get a bedspread and two chairs!) But during our two night stay the temperatures were in the high 20's so having a small room with only one rooflight light for ventilation (As there are no fans provided.) was unbearably hot.
The other down side is the noise of the aircraft, the sound was so loud you couldn't hear the tv with the sound turned to max'.

Positives are the Breakfast was very good, the location is excellent and tranquil in between flights (About every 3 minutes.) Great for weddings and you won't need a wake up call 'cos you'll be awake from about 5:15am with a roar of a passing jet.

The room we were given was certainly not value for money, my advice would be check what room you are booking and avoid number 32 unless you are catching a flight the next morning.

Room Tip: Avoid room 32 !!!

We stayed here 12th Julh 2014 just for one evening on a groupon deal and was pleased with the break as a whole. Upon check in we were met by friendly helpful staff and shown to our room. We went straight down for our afternoon tea out on the patio by the lake, lovely view, yummy scones and a glass of freshly prepared
Pimms. We took a little stroll round the lake rather short walk and the pathway was a bit rickety but it isnt advertised as a perfect nature walk so just something to pass the time. We had drinks in the restaurant there is a good selection and reasonably priced. Dinner was very nice albeit a limited selection on the groupon menu but food was cooked well and fair portion size (perhaps a bit stingey on the chips). We upgraded to a superior room which was clean tidy and well maintained my only complaints were:
1) based on previous reviews i asked to have a room that did not have 2 beds pushed together although this was confirmed we sill received 2 singles pushed together. They were comfy and it wasnt a big deal so decided not to complain.
2) there was no fridge in the room. Didnt effect us too much except we were considering taking our 8 month old baby and would have been difficult with regards to her feeding without this. For a 4* rated hotel a small fridge would be much nicer and convenient.
3) the shower temperature was very temperamental it kept fluctuating very annoying and uncomfortable.
4) walls are thin i coudnt hear people in their rooms but could hear everyone coming into the corridoor sounding like they had entered your room.
5) there was a working fan but the base was broken so had to prop it between the chair and table to stand replacement of a tower fan isnt very costly but improves the overall attention to detail.

There isnt anything to do so take a book. Location very easy to get to but VERY close to the airport so you can hear them frequently and often have to pause mid convo to wait for them to pass, it didnt bother us but some may not be as pleased so bare it in mind. Overall clean hotel, friendly staff however some are not that fluent in English but generally understood your needs and requests, easy access from M11, good food including the buffet breakfast, comfy beds and an enjoyable quiet night away.

This is a lovely hotel, with beautiful grounds. The staff were friendly, the food and service was good. A nice clean and comfortable room. The only downside to this hotel is the noise from the planes flying overhead because of the proximity to Stansted.

We went there on a Group-On deal which included cream tea, dinner and breakfast, which was great value and more than made up for the plane noise. We had a lovely stay and would make use of a similar deal again.

Stayed here last night on a business trip in the superior room, didn't have any complaints really! Friendly staff and the breakfast we had in the morning was more than decent. Nice rooms and beautiful grounds, clearly set up for weddings.

The hotel is right next to Stansted airport and the planes can be noisy, but unless you are a really light sleeper it doesn't matter. I slept through the full night, as did my 4 colleagues. Hotel provided earplugs free of charge too.

A little delay at reception. Then another when we were told the room was not ready. Still the sun was shining so outside for a drink . Room ready. Upon entering the lodge there was a faint odour which I thought was the smell of cleaning products on the damp floor.
About 21.30 I decided to have a shower. The smell that came up from the drain was totally unbelievable. At this time of night I was a little concerned that nothing could be done.
A call to reception was answered and I was told that they were fully booked but could they call me back in a few moments. It was the assistant manager who called me back saying the night porter would be over to move us to the best room in the house as soon as possible.
I would just like to say it was dealt with and resolved in a most professional manner which I can only recommend this hotel to all. I thank all the staff for such an enjoyable couple of days

Room Tip: Try and stay in the hotel not over the road in the lodge

Stayed here lastnight for friends wedding. The wedding set up was beautiful and the grounds stunning.

Told we could check in after 2pm arrived 2:30 to be told room was not ready and would not be till 3pm. Thats fine sat in bar till it was ready.
Walked into room floor was wet where it had been mopped. The window had no latch on it so it was always ajar.
The view from window was 2 propane gas cylinders and a road shame.
The blind had no pull string so you could not open it.
However room was nice just needs TLC.
I would say it needs black out curtains or blind as the headlights from cars shine into room. Needs brighter overhead lights too.

The heating was on so it was very hot called down to reception within 5min we had a fan. Staff very helpful.

I would stay again but maybe I will bring something to put in ears to drown planes out as we were woken at 6am. Also would of liked a room with bath.
