We arrived for lunch, and were immediately seated, and brought drinks. We ordered 2 Hot Beef and Onion Sandwiches, with chips, and a childs portion of pasta for the baby. The food was promptly delivered, and was absolutely delicious!! I would definitely go back again.

First time we have visited the Grapes ,which is set in a lovely village location,we where going to celebrate a relatives birthday ,upon arrival it seemed like a run of the mill pub ,and inside it was very busy with that rustic feel, the pub had two or three menus you could choose from ,and I must say for a pub of this size I was pleasantly surprised by the vast choice that was on offer.I opted for the pie dish which a steak pie with black pudding which was plentiful and very tasty ,the rest of the party had various dishes and all thoroughly enjoyed the food and the service in the relaxed atmosphere. You can always tell how good a place is by the footfall and whilst we where there it was very busy ,well done keep that home cooked food approach .

We went to The Grapes for the first time, on a Tuesday evening in August; a party of 3, including my 91-year-old mother.

The restaurant was full - so booking recommended - and there was a good atmosphere. No television and music only on intermittently. The building is old and cosy, with oak beams.

The beer quality was excellent, with a choice of 5 cask ales.

The food was very good indeed. The menu was about the most extensive I have seen for a long time, which can be a bad sign but in this case the quality didn't suffer. Our food included onion and Cheddar soup, a very tasty fresh fish platter, and a strawberry Pavlova.

Our only negative would be the very limited range of vegetarian options.

Value for money was very good indeed.

Overall, a very enjoyable evening and we would definitely be happy to return.

We ate at the grapes on 9th August 2014. We were staying at the best western leyland but wanted to find a pub with real ale! Lancaster straw was worth the short journey in itself and Steve is a micro brewer from lincoln (cathedral heights brewery lincoln) www.chbrewery.co.uk
Food was really good, lamb shoulder, venison steak and the star of the show - steak and red onion pie with a real shortcrust pastry top. Service was great -nothing was too much trouble
and we sat outside in the sunshine. Brilliant! What's not to like :-) Thanks

Come back off holiday, not a scrap in - to the grapes we go! Slow cooked peppered steak brisket will do the job, my belly rumbles. And like any other time, my partner is on ribs. Main size portion and a portion on chips.
The food is second to non, and all is a credit to the staff and owners. We love this place, and visit so many times I can review each one.
Thanks again, keep up the 'winning formula'.
