I recently attended Dalhousie Castle for a wedding and thoroughly enjoyed my time. The castle grounds were amazing and the overall running of the wedding was first class. I'd like to thank all the staff who were extremely helpful especially the barmaid Ashleigh who was really friendly and ran the busy bar smoothly.

Wow, what a place. The old spooky castle with all it's history and menace is so full of character! Peter the porter provided added entertainment with all his chilling stories!

All the staff were excellent!

A+

Thoroughly enjoyed a recent stay at Dalhousie. We were looked after by a very polite, friendly and attentive young man named Jordan, and stayed in the India room which was lovely. The big fluffy robes in the rooms are a lovely touch.
The spa was brilliant, we were fortunate enough to use it at a relatively quiet time, which meant we got the Hydropool to ourselves, before having a nice dinner in the Orangery and visiting the chapel and exploring the rest of the castle.
The bed was extremely comfortable and we both slept like babies!
The following day we went for a walk around the castle grounds and down to the Falconry, where we were able to ask the staff lots of questions about the owls and kestrels, and then got to interact with the owls, which was a great experience.
We finished our stay by having hot drinks in the library, which is so cosy and authentic, with books dating back hundreds of years and board games for guests to use.
The castle has lots of reading available about the history of the castle and the lineage of the Earls of Dalhousie. You can also obtain some "paranormal stories" from reception if you are brave!
Would absolutely recommend Dalhousie as a lovely place to stay.

Had an 1 night deal, db&b including bottle of wine. Dinner was good. Staff were friendly. and the breakfast was excellent. They seem to get a lot of weddings here we had a drink in the library only one waiter so he was struggling to cope. The room was clean enough allthough could do with upgrading. Nice grounds to the castle had a walk along the river bank which runs around the castle. On the whole a good overnight stay.

Stayed for one night during the first week of the Easter School holidays. Dalhousie Castle makes a fantastic first impression as you're approaching up the driveway and the gardens/grounds are breathtaking. The food in the Orangery (the cheaper of its two restaurants) was delicious and the staff were very friendly and efficient.

Sadly our room (at the very top of the castle (room 24), whilst being very spacious, was in major need of redecoration. The wallpaper was badly stained, the carpet ripped and threadbare in places and the sofa looked so old and dingy that I didn't even care to sit down on it. The bed however was large and comfortable though I had to resist the urge to take a peek at the mattress!

Similarly the "recently renovated spa" had flaky peeling paint on its ceiling and the little relaxation conservatory area, whilst lovely and bright, was found to be lacking. Only 2 sunloungers and a few chairs. The sunloungers had padded cushions which looked very old and stained and the sunloungers themselves (made from wicker) were broken and cracked and should be replaced immediately.

In my opinion, this hotel is far from being 4 star.

Would I ever recommend this hotel - NO.
Would I return to this hotel - NO.

Thankfully we didn't pay full price.
