Our room was one of the smaller ones but still was quite comfortable. While we did day trips we staid in for diner all three nights and enjoyed both dinning venues in the castle. The breakfasts were comprehensive with plenty of choice to please. The staff was always pleasant and very helpful advising us of things to do and where to go for lunch. The Dalhousie Castle is away from the hustle-bustle of the city but nearby if desired.

Room tip: Request a room looking away from the entry. The view will be better and the early morning noise will likely be non existent.

Solo, no car, taxi right outside airport to get there. I stayed sunny Saturday night & Loved It! Even saw great Falconry demonstrations. What fun, every employee I needed or encountered from checkin - who gave me copy of fun facts sheet about castle history to dinner/breakfast so friendly they even took pics for me in both the original Dungeon stairway where the original stone is still located with rope marks as well as Dungeon Restaurant. I had special order on food - great. Catarina took my reservation & she picked great room for me with stunning sunset view & told me I could roam any of the walking paths, take all the pics I wanted in castle any place a door was open, even reminded me to pack bathing suit. It's a great wedding venue also and I even lucked out with them taking entire party pics out doors - beautiful site to see. Library for coffee & drinks lovely atmosphere too

My family had such a lovely experience at Dalhousie Castle! We came here on a quick detour while on holiday this last December. My family wanted to stay in a castle, and this is the one I found on the Internet, and I am glad that I did. The castle is such an amazing place with so much history. The staff was gracious and courteous, the food was amazing, and the ambiance was wonderful. I would highly recommend this lovely castle to any wishing to experience a lovely holiday in Scotland!

Went to Dalhousie on Sunday. Spa being refurbished therefore there were no keys for the lockers! Sauna not working but massage super. We then had afternoon tea which was lovely but service is not a word you could put in the same sentence as Dalhousie Castle. I finished up serving our afternoon tea to ourselves and two other couples in the Orangery and the duty manager had no idea that we had served ourselves. When I complained she said she was duty manager but could not deal with complaints. She gave me the email address of the General Manager which proved to be none existant. On telephoning the hotel I was given another email address and although I sent the email on Sunday late afternoon to date I have heard nothing. As I say they don't know what service is at Dalhousie so I would steer clear. There are too many excellent hotels around Edinburgh to bother with this one which clearly has no interest in customers.

Visited with elderly relatives. Service and food ( afternoon tea) was average. Served on a shelved box which looked a bit dusty. Catered for gluten and dairy free members of party which was a positive. Ok for afternoon tea but not if your looking for something special.
