Description: Set in the quiet estate surroundings with mountain views, our relaxed Hayloft Restaurant combines the very best of our estate grown foods and local produce to bring you a 'taste of Wales' right from our very own doorstep. The restaurant itself is a beautifully converted hay barn, with a rustic yet modern appeal and a menu designed to showcase the fantastic Welsh larder available. During seasons we have some rare and exciting meats on the menu that have been sourced from local farms, these dishes are lovingly designed to showcase the amazing local produce available. At Bodnant we pride ourself on the freshness and quality of our seasonal Menu. The bread is freshly baked in the Bodnant bakery, the fish and shellfish is locally sourced with passion wherever possible and prepared by our fantastic Chef, the meat on offer is from our butchery and our ice creams and cheeses for our puddings and cheese board are produced in our dairy. If you have any question about any of the food or farms that we have used the team would be happy to talk to you about our high quality produce we have on the menu for you.

We booked a table of 4 for a Sunday lunch time.
Welcomed with a smile to a small lounge area, lovely looking building.
We had 4 drinks, 4 mains and 4 deserts.
The mains were tasty and a fair good portion. The deserts were really tasty, but in my opinion a little overpriced. In all, a lovely place, great food, but a little expensive.

This review refers only to the ice cream kiosk.
The ice cream at Bodnant Welsh food is made on site. It’s very good and very popular, but you have to wait a long long time to be served. Here are a few suggestions to speed up the sales process.
Provide an easy to read price list.
Provide labels for each of the dozen or so flavours. There were none when I was there, so everybody had to ask what was what.
Provide a cash till/card reader at the ice cream kiosk. At present, the staff member has to walk to the tea room cash till to get change or to pay in the money. The man in front of me was complaining bitterly about this.
Tidy up the ice cream kiosk. Clear out the clutter.
These are easy improvements to make.
I've supported the Bodnant Welsh Food Centre since it opened, I use the tea room and the farm shop regularly. I've made several suggestions via their website. My first suggestion was that they should reply to any negative reviews on TripAdvisor. Make it look as though they were grateful for the review. It's easy to reply but it hasn't happened.

Big thank you to Chris and the team at the Hayloft for yet another exceptional meal. The Thursday evenings are complimented beautifully by the harp being played throughout dinner and the staff's knowledge of the menu and wine-list make for a great night. The new on-site wine cellar has made an impressive impact.

This is an excellent restaurant in a magnificent setting, with views to die for and they do not over charge for the wines make an excellent value for money evening that is worth making a special trip for. Very Highly Recommended.

First time at this restaurant. It's part of a foodie complex where local fine produce is their raison d'être. So, the context is spot on. No surprise then that the food was superb - fine ingredients put together with great care and skill. Most of what we ate was sourced locally and of great quality. The wine list has little to commend it and the service is not quite there but that will likely change as the restaurant gets more years under its belt. We'll be back

We went for Sunday lunch - a rare child free weekend. First off it is a beautiful setting, the staff are lovely and very friendly but while the bar area is just beautiful and really hits the mark the restaurant area is not quite there. A great space but just a touch village hall - ok for lunch - maybe lighting etc makes it better for evenings.

The food was average really. My starter was good - if a little on the small side. Husband's duck was 'ok'.

I had roast chicken which had a flabby skin - which was tarted up with a char grilled effect. Mashed potatoes were very poor with massive lumps. A watery and poorly cooked cream sauce. To be fair to the restaurant they were very responsive and offered an alternative - but as my husband had also been served I didnt want to wait for another meal to be prepared so they took the dish off the bill.

Husband had roast pork which was fine - but for £15 wasnt all it might have been.

Vegetables are ordered separately - big lumps of carrot, broccoli and cauliflower - fine - but a little bland and unimaginative.

House wines were very pleasant.

If this had been a local pub on a 2 courses for £15 it would have been fine - but they are charging top prices for the area and are really not quite at the level they should be.

Dont want to be too scathing as they were friendly and attentive - but a bit of a way to go to reach the level they promise.
