We stayed here for my husbands birthday, the staff are lovely and friendly and very helpful, the room we stayed in overlooked the bay which was beautiful, the room was very spacious and a very comfortable bed.the food for evening meal and breakfast was gorgeous. We will defiantly stay again.

Came here for the first time last Friday, receptionist was helpful and guided us to the bar area. We chose a table outside and had a bottle of rose wine which was chilled and reasonable priced. We also had 2 starters which I cannot fault. The inky thing I suggest is they spray something on their walls to ensure there are no seagull attacks whilst sitting outside

Hotels food was poor and the furniture in the lounge/restaurant wasn't clean. This hotel has a great location with views over the estuary and castle but to charge the prices it does it needs to raise the bar and maintain the expectations of its guests

I have found it really interesting to read the reviews of other visitors who echo my 'concerns'.

The Quay has a wonderful location and stunning view. I have had many spa treatments
and cannot rate the staff highly enough.

But...

My husband and I have stopped
going to the pool area. It is always fairly busy with only two loungers to sit on. Again, paying for lockers and towels etc is ridiculous.

The last two times that we have been we have also had a problem checking in. The first time we booked in estuary view and were given an accessible room. We have no issue with disability but the room is
equipped with handrails, alarm buttons and no bath. We were moved.

This time we arrived ready
for our spa treatments. We were told that the hotel policy is that
Rooms do not have to be ready until 4 o'clock. You consider how much you are paying for a room, I would want it a lot earlier than that. We were told to go away and come back and that spa bookings were not their concern. We expected a phone call when our room was ready- it never came.

I feel that in order for this hotel to be the best that it can be and warrant the hefty price tag,
there needs to be a review of their booking in system and some staff training in customer service.

Thank you very much for taking the time to review your recent stay with us., I was pleased to read that you enjoy our location and the staff. You are right are pool can get fairly busy at times as we are a busy hotel and also have a small number of members, our pool since last April has 3 sun loungers and 4 armchairs, unfortunately there is not enough room for more. To enable to lock your locker you need a £1 coin, and we take a £2 deposit for the towels which is handed back on departure. Check in is from 3pm and where possible we are always happy to let anyone check in as early as possible if the room is ready, we are almost happy to accommodate early arrival upon request.

I am sorry that you were not told that your room had a disabled access bathroom, this was clearly a mistake from the team for not informing you, I will speak to them and ensure that it does not happen again.

I would love to discuss your comments personally, can I please ask you to contact me direct on 01492564163. I look forward to hearing from you.

Regards

Stayed here for my husbands birthday in August for two nights in a penthouse room overlooking the estuary.

Check in - lovely lady, explained where everything was, asked us about our journey and then showed us to our suite. Very fast and efficient.

The room - not penthouse standard as with other hotels we have stayed in. The main problem was the fact there was no air conditioning and the bedroom window only opened about two inches. On a hot weekend in Wales this made it very difficult to sleep.
The turn down service didn't happen on either night of our stay, after the first night we went to reception and asked about this, she apologised and assured us that the room would be turned down at 8pm that night. That didn't happen again.
I was shocked at the tea making tray for a penthouse suite, firstly it was in a dark cupboard with no light above or near it so it's was virtually impossible to make drinks without spilling things everywhere, and secondly we had little pots of milk, surely in a suite like that fresh milk should be provided on arrival.

Dinner - evening dinner in the grill restaurant downstairs was absolutely beautiful. We cannot fault a thing on it, the staff were all lovely and recommended things to us. Compliments to the chef and the food was delicious. We had the steak and the chicken.

Breakfast - the first morning we had breakfast downstairs, this was all done very nicely and the food was delicious. The second morning we had breakfast delivered to the room, this was a lovely treat and everything arrived hot and on time.

Wifi - we didn't have any wifi signal in the room all weekend as stated on the website. We asked about this on the Saturday of out stay and were assured it was being fixed by the afternoon. This wasn't the case.

Spa - wouldn't really call it nice. It's a pool area with changing rooms that need a good clean. Staff within the spa area were rude and too busy chatting their friends to deal with guests.

Overall, we would probably wouldn't stay again for the price we paid and not being able to sleep due to the room being so hot.

Dear Nichola H,
thank you very much for your review following your recent stay, I am sorry to read that you thought your penthouse was not up to standard. Unfortunately when the hotel was built it was decided that air con in North Wales was not necessary, perhaps it is something that will get done at a later stage. The windows do open fully, there is a little "catch" down the side to press to open it, I am sorry that you did not see it, also the patio doors in the lounge area open fully. I am glad to read that you enjoyed the food and service during your stay. We are currently working on an upgrade for our WIFI, with the increase in level of business and mobile devices the hotel is now struggling to cope, this should be done by the end of August, I agree with you it is now crucial to have fast and accessible internet.
I have spoken to the relevant managers regarding your comments about the cleanliness in the Spa.
I do hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future, and if you wish to do so please contact me direct and I will personally take care of your reservation.

Ignore the Lamont review ! Having spent many happy visits to the Quay over a period after having discovered it some years ago, we now use it as our North Wales hideaway. It is only a short drive from home, but when we want to really chill out and treat each other, this is where we go. The location provides the option to enjoy the best of North Wales with the Victorian seaside town of Llandudno within a short drive ( or a bit longer walk for the more energetic ). Conway is within view with its prominent Castle and can be reached on foot via the coast path ( flat, paved and fit for bicycles ). There are many National Trust properties within easy reach and the mountains of Snowdonia are a short drive away. Ynys Mon ( that's Anglesey to the English ) is just another longer drive away, all easy routes.
The hotel is a very pleasant modern building which is situated right on the waterfront of the Conway estuary so there is plenty to watch if you are able to get a front facing room. The hotel has very little garden space as it is situated within the Deganwy Marina area with some very posh properties and boats to match but there is usually something to watch for the more curious ( nosey ) amongst us.
If you like to walk on hills, Conway Mountain is just across the estary, again an easy walk to the top, but the view from the hill fort is spectacular.
The staff have always been most attentive and treated us like family and the food is always good though not always to our liking ( menu's get changed regularly and sometimes get a bit ''Cheffy'' ) but the service is always top notch. The rooms are always clean and tidy and the building is quiet though if you are privileged enough to have a top floor room, the seagulls do sound as if they wear hobnailed boots in the morning.
The spa is not just the pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi, if you venture upstairs to the real spa, you will find a very relaxing modern suite of treatment rooms with staff to match and a good range of treatments for those who want to be really pampered.
So............. Just do it, you know it makes sense !!

Room Tip: Always try to get a first or second floor room on the river front. The extra cost is worth it. The p...

Very posh hotel indeed! We went for a friends’ wedding and were blown away by how nice it was. The function rooms were great, the bar staff were friendly, the view on the balcony was great, the hotel rooms were lovely – I’d recommend this place to anyone.
