“Nice setting but overpriced”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 August 2014 via mobile

Great setting with nice rooms but very over priced. Food is good if you can get them to serve you promptly, however, time after time you can wait ages (30-60 mins). Breakfast is good however as you serve yourself! Do not order a morning newspaper as they charge you extra for it, unlike most hotels I stay which offer free newspapers. Staff are friendly, yet disorganized.

This is a well equipped hotel with comfortable bedrooms and good bathrooms. The restaurant is good if a little pricey. The view up towards the castle is lovely, particularly at night. The wifi worked well (always a bonus!) and the spa seemed good although we didn't actually use it.

We stayed for one night only and booked on the last minute. Unfortunately, like a previous reviewer was not told that our bathroom was equipped for the disabled.....lots of handrails, emergency cords, etc. We were however told when we booked it had a wet room so didn't expect a bath. We too asked to be moved but was told the hotel was full. I do not want to labour this point though, it might have been a little inconvenient for us, but I applaud the hotel on its facilities for the disabled! The actual bedroom was very clean, a decent size and large bed.

The staff were friendly, helpful and very welcoming. We have stayed in the hotel before so wanted to venture out and have our evening meal elsewhere but we did have breakfast. It was lovely and served with a smile. Lots of choice and good quality. We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay at the Quay Hotel and it was wonderful to wake up to a view of the estuary and Conway Castle. I used the spa and again the staff were pleasant and welcoming.

Have stayed at the quay many times now and have found staff to be friendly and efficient. The location is stunning especially the estuary rooms. We had a one night stay with dinner bed and breakfast and stayed in an estuary room had a lovely relaxing break. Only negative was very disappointed with starter at dinner salt crusted mackerel with rhubarb textures, a two bite dish both disgusting, sorry chef. Redeemed by a excellent main and sweet. Disappointed to have been overcharged on check out for drinks not had but resolved with no fuss. Thanks again happy to return.

Just spent a lovely afternoon lunching at The Quay Hotel. Food was lovely and the service was excellent thanks to Tracey D. Nothing was too much trouble for Tracey and she kept checking back to see if we required anything more. Staff like Tracey are hard to be found and she should be treasured.

We stayed at The Quay Hotel and Spa for 3 nights in mid August as a couple for our anniversary. Upon arrival we were welcomed by a lovely lady who showed us to our executive room. This was very nice with a balcony and amazing views of the Castle and Estuary. We paid £475 for bed and breakfast.

We decided to settle in then go to the spa. We were extremely disappointed to find screaming children running in and out of the Sauna and Steam room with parents just laughing at them and no member of staff there to ask the children to remain in the pool, not the romantic atmosphere we were hoping for. After this experience we were made aware of the times for children to use the pool and made sure for the rest of our stay to go out of these times. The spa lacks a relaxing atmosphere, if there were to be dimmed lighting in the pool area and possibly some relaxing background music we feel this would add to the experience.

Our room was cleaned daily to a good standard, however we felt it not necessary for the cleaner to go through our bedside draws and move our belongings.

On our second evening we ordered room service which was very expensive and waited an hour and 40mins for it to arrive, when it did arrive the food was cold and we were told the chefs had gone home and therefore couldnt replace it. We were told to take it up with reception in the morning, not good service at all! We were later told the lady had forgot to write our room number down, we do understand that mistakes happen and the food was taken off our bill.

At breakfast the next morning we felt on edge as the waiting staff were unwelcoming. As one young lady was serving us another member of staff asked her where she had been and said she had been looking for her in an abrupt tone, very unprofessional when she was serving paying guests! Whilst waiting for a poached egg to be brought to the table my partner found a hair in her breakfast, again we understand that mistakes happen but by this point too many instances were occuring and we felt the need to bring our experiences to the managers attention.

The manager was appolgetic and offered us to spend our final night in a penthouse suite where he left us a lovely card and some cupcakes along with a bottle of Prosecco. We felt this to be a lovely touch. This hotel has the grounds to be amazing, with a bit of work on the spa and customer service we feel this could easily be a 5 star but for our personal experience we rate it a 3 star. We hope to visit again in the near future.

The hotel setting is stunning and the rooms are really well equipped but there are two things they can't do. Provide a decent supply of hot water and working wifi in the bedrooms. I struggled to get the shower to work and could only get a trickle of water. The wifi was supposed to work in the bedroom but didn't.

Room Tip: Ask for the main buidling
