We stayed at Newlands House while on the coast to coast walk. We were offered a pick-up from Clay Bank Top, but didn't need it as we had time to walk to Great Broughton, however, the following day we were grateful for the drop-off as we had a long day ahead. Andrea looked after us rather well and advised on eating-out. There was a large bathroom but the rooms need a make-over.

10 categories marked by the 4 of us whilst recently walking the coast to coast, finishing on June 29th. Total marks available 200. Mark achieved 75 (Overall 1.88 out of 5). High mark was 3 for the shower, Low mark was 1 for both the welcome and the hospitality, despite an improvement once Andrea appeared on the scene. This was very disappointing die to a very poor attitude from the owner who came across as rather miserable. Everyone has an off day and maybe this was it but the single bed in the back bedroom will soon end up with someone impaled when the springs finally burst through.

A really pleasant welcome after a long and wet walk. Tea and bikkies greeted us immediately and the large lounge room allowed us to catch up with other Coast to Coasters in pleasant surrounds. The room was large and the bathroom great. It is in easy walking distance of great food (the best we had on the walk) and the breakfast the next moring was all we could ask. The added benefit of Paul driving us the hill to recommence the walk was also a nice treat.

We arrived after a long walk from Ingleby Cross on the C2C rather weary after battling the wind and rain over the moors. We were warmly welcomed, shown to our room and given a tray of tea and choccy biscuits.
The room was a good size with a huge bathroom and a separate bath and shower. The bath was used for a good soak!
Andrea had good information about how far the poubs were and so we chose the nearest to eat in. We were given a jug of fresh milk for tea too which is a pleasure compared to the plastis pots usually supplied.
Breakfast next morning was good and there was plenty on offer.
Andrea also dropped us off in the car back at Clay Bank top to continue on our way.
All in all a very enjoyable nights stay with a very friendly, obliging landlady.
