Stayed over the Easter weekend, just as all the work on the Mill building had been completed... Very welcome complimentary drink on arrival, friendly staff, lovely modern room which was serviced during our 2 night stay, and a hot tub just outside our room!! Breakfast, which is cooked to order, is even served at the time YOU prefer, within a 2 hour timescale......will defiitely return.

Room Tip: If you require WIFI during your stay, ask for it, as it is in certain rooms, otherwise only i Recept...

Extremely disappointed with our chosen venue. Good Housekeeping needs to be addressed together with a few maintenance issues. No windows to open for 'fresh air' therefore a little stuffy.
Evening meal down the lane towards the main road was excellent with very friendly staff. Breakfast inside the Mill was good but not keen on the refectory table. Sadly we will not return.

Room Tip: Unfortunately The Mill itself, which was the big attraction, is occupied by the family therefore if...

If you like unhelpful and unfriendly staff. very noisy rooms, unpleasant fellow guests. dirty carpets, discrepancy regarding the rate, sack of potatoes for a bed, pillows like poppadum's. scaffolding and workmen everywhere, bathroom door that takes 2 to open it, 1/4 of a roll of toilet tissue- with no spares, broken showerhead; then this is the place for you! if you only like approx. 4 hours sleep and to be awaken by what sounds like elephants partying in the room above, then this is your kind of place. and what's more you don't need to take your alarm clock, the workmen will bring your little sleep to a shuddering halt. we were woken 4 times during the night by other guests.
worst night in a B&B / Hotel ever!!!
And not surprisingly no response to my complaint.

Room Tip: Best Tip - Try elsewhere!

Stayed in one of the rooms in the courtyard, outside the main building. Not a bad room but nothing special. There are rooms above and you can hear every footstep. Scaffolding work ongoing, so lot of noise in morning. Walls very thin, large glazed patio doors, with plain inscriptions, allows people outside to see in, so needed to keep curtains closed till we left. Bed was hard. Shortage of sockets at bedside, without disconnecting light. Good idea was the double socket near the full length mirror. Location, not ideal for Yarm High Street, unless you drive. Good pub at end of lane. Perhaps went at bad time, but wouldn't rush to stay again.

The Old Mill itself has some nice charm which added nicely to making breakfast in the main building a very nice tasty experience. The staff are fantastic being very approachable, polite and friendly. We stayed in "The tool shed" which was the name for one of their self contained bedroom units separate from the main building which did provide gave some degree of privatize. A small let down was loose shower-head in the ensuite, nothing a little TLC on these rooms would make it just prefect next time we visit Middlesbrough, Whitby area.

Room Tip: Visit in the summer time and you can take advantage of the hottub

The Old Mill is fine for a short stay. It is not in, but a drive to, Yarm and a short walk from a reasonable restaurant.

The layout and size of rooms are alright. However it is let down by flat and old pillows, threadbare towels and old sheets.

Shame really.
