A celebration party of 16 staying for two nights. This is a typical cotswold hotel split into two parts. A little strange in that you check into one property at reception and then have to walk a short distance to the main hotel which exposes you to the elements!!
Our party was split between the Reception block and the main building which is homely but a little small for so many of us to be seated together. Not much room left for other guests when we sat in the lounge area. Lounge and dining rooms consist of a number of small areas together with a very nice room for parties which we had for our evening meal on the Saturday. This room was ideal for our requirement and was permanently staffed so service was excellent. We had chosen menus prior to the visit and the serving worked very well. Food was excellent and was enjoyed by all.
The hotel had a very pleasant lady who acted as a greeter and flipped between the two buildings. At times the staff appeared a little confused by her enthusiasm. However the position is warranted due to the unusual layout of the properties. We were in the main building which to say the least is a little quirky, but what would you expect from a 600 year old property? Excepting that aspect the building is a delight and one which I think all our party thoroughly enjoyed. You hesitate a little when paying £9.50 for a glass of wine and £9.25 for a beef sandwich so you can get the picture on cost. However this is a place where you go to treat yourself and why not? We all had a very enjoyable visit and thank the staff for making it so.
