Beautiful hotel - the decor is tasteful and modern and it is lovely to return to after a day on the hill.
The staff are helpful.
Lovely touches in the rooms - like fresh milk and White Company toiletries.
A few gripes though - you are led to believe that the rooms are large when you book but ours (110) was rather small and stuffy at night.
The breakfast is disappointing - boring fruit salad, and a full Scottish breakfast should have bacon and nice sausages - not beef Lorne sausage, and I'm not sure why they have itemised prices on the breakfast menu when the packages include breakfast.

Dear Janet F,

It was great to read your review and thank you for taking the time to leave it on this website.

I am delighted that you enjoyed your stay with us.

The rooms are indeed a step above the norm, and great detail has gone into in to every aspect of the interior to ensure relaxation after a day on the hill!

I am delighted to read your comments about the helpful nature of all the staff. The team take great pride in providing exceptional hospitality, and what a setting we have been given to do so!

We do aim to provide a varied and unique breakfast offering, whilst staying true to Scotland. Both the lorne sausage and the smoked salmon options are undeniably Scottish in origin.

Thank you for noting the prices on the breakfast menu- they are for the room only or non-resident guests, who are having breakfast with us.

We would love to have you back for an other relaxing stay, when booking, please contact me or Ewan directly on 01882 580444, so we can personally oversee your reservation!

Warm Regards,

Richard

Just back from the newly refurbished Dunalastair Suites at Kinloch Rannoch.
Had a wonderful break which was very relaxing on a deal through one of the large break companies. Stayed and enjoyed 2 nights DBB and I thought the food and service received was absolutely first class and can't recommend highly enough.

Stayed at Dunalastair on an itison voucher which included dinner bed and breakfast both nights, afternoon tea and a bottle of Prosecco. When we arrived the sun was shining so we sat in the beautiful courtyard with our afternoon tea and Prosecco. A lovely way to begin our short break. All the staff were very attentive and nothing seemed too much bother. The hotel furnishings were of the highest quality which made for a very comfortable stay. Breakfast was lovely and plenty of choice for both hot and cold options. The three course dinner was nice and good portions, however, I did feel the main courses could have had a bit more flair and imagination. There is a mini kitchen in each room which was very convenient. I would have liked a small supply of plates and cutlery, however, I believe if you were to ask a member of staff they would supply whatever you needed. All in all a very relaxing place to stay in a lovely location and would love to return.

Stayed here for a night with my husband & wished we could've stayed longer. From check in to check out we were looked after to the highest standard. We thoroughly enjoyed every meal. Drinks were high standard. Room was comfortable, clean & quiet. The entire hotel is done to the highest spec. Modern scottish decor without any sign of twee. Best part of our stay were the staff & the service. Friendly, polite & couldn't have made us more welcome. Definitely coming back

We stayed here for four nights. On arrival found the hotel to be as expected from reading other reviews. A very good refurbishment, staff extremely helpful and food up to the standard it should be. However, as already established it is at least a half hour drive to Pitlochry for any other eating places so once returning in the evening the hotel is really your only choice for dining, hence the problem, the menu was very similar for the three nights, no beef no pork, just a choice of chicken (cassoulet) every night haddock or lamb. All of these were good to eat once but in my opinion part of the pleasure of dining out is perusing the menu. I did discuss this with the staff on the second night and was told it would be changed that day, it was, fondant potato served with the lamb instead if the fish.
I would also point out when people travel to Scotland it is always welcoming to see a hint of the warmth of Scotland in the hotel. This is totally lacking as one reviewer wrote it could be in a city but is that really what you want on a holiday in the beautiful highlands and locks of this superb country. The prints on the walls could have been anything rather than the black daubs in frames. Yes I would stay again but for no more than one or two nights.

Dear Kathleen S,

Thank you for taking the time to review the Dunalastair Hotel Suites.

We do take all feedback on board. We have recently extended the menu, and added some daily specials. We do always try to ensure the menu is varied and creative in offering, though providing daily changes can be tricky without incurring high food wastage in such a rural location, where daily ordering is not always possible. Hopefully on your next visit you will witness the improvement.

I am surprised to read that you felt the hotel lacked Scottish warmth (somewhat of an oxymoron, given the summer weather to date.) The previous review actually referred very positively to the sense of luxury and the trappings you could expect of a major city, to many a distinct bonus in a rural setting.

From the antler Chandelier above the stained glass windows on our main stair case - an original feature of our Victorian building - too the highland outfit framed on the wall of the lounge, and freshly baked shortbread that we place in our guest rooms for arrival, we certainly try to provide some features and small touches rooted in Scottish tradition.

As you rightly state, we have one of the most prime locations you could dream of to visit Scottish locks (sic) and visit the fabulous Munro, Schiehallion, that stands over our beautiful village location. If that does not provide the perfect Scottish experience, I do not know what does.

Haste ye back!

Warm Regards,

Ewan
