“Certainly not the end of the line!”

On a rather autumnal August day, my daughters and I took a drive to the tearoom at Rannoch station, having passed the fantastic scenery of Lochs Tummel and Rannoch we arrived at the station, descended to the platform and entered the deservedly respected tearoom. We ordered toasties, soup of the day (Cullen skink) and drinks, all very reasonably priced and well presented. The food was wonderful and the service excellent, well worth the drive from Pitlochry. If you wish to guarantee an inside table I would advise timing your visit to not be just before a train arrives as we found many people entered the tearoom shortly after. Will definitely come again next time I am this far north ☺

“quite unique”

The home made scones ! It was a lovely drive to the Station from Loch Rannoch and you were in real wilderness country. The owner of the Tea-room was a charming lady with a nice assistant, well worth a viist. But sorry we didn't see a train, too late !

“Hurray, at last, it has reopened.....”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 August 2014

One of our favourite places to visit, this remote location has it all, some of the best scenery in Scotland and a lot of peace..and quiet, very quiet. The slightly frustrating lack of a tearoom has at last been addressed, and it has finally reopened.

We visited on a cold and blustery Autumn day in early August, (well it is Rannoch, snow shortly), and were not disappointed. SImple soups, straight-forward toastie, proper cup of tea in a proper cup, from a proper teapot and the cakes looked lovely, but we couldn't quite run to those, too full.

The two ladies were very welcoming, and fingers crossed things are going well. We'll definitely be back.

“Deighted”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 August 2014

I visited again on 3rd of August and it was open. The snacks here are delicious and home made and I was served by 2 very charming ladies. Tea was served in a proper china tea pot and the prices I found most reasonable. It was so nice to see some life in the tea room, indeed it was busy. I will definitely visit again. The drive to here is through spectacular scenery. Not to be missed!

“A wonderful surprise !”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 July 2014

We were in the Highlands, visiting from Swindon. En route, we stopped at Hettie's Tearoom in Pitlochry. A member of staff there told us her father used to be Station Master here, and that it was well worth a visit. So off we go from the Macdonald Loch Rannoch Hotel (separate review).

Being Townies we totally failed to understand how people manage to live in such a remote spot, having to go on the train for shopping, helicopter for medical emergency . . . Makes you really appreciate 'Facilities' !

By the time we reached the station we were desperate for a coffee and a snack - only to discover this little gem, and it had opened under new management THAT DAY !!

It is a step back in time, immaculately clean, very good prices and an absolute joy ! We were so pleased that we had made the effort to get there. It was a shame we had not long had a substantial breakfast, but the English lady owner gave us a true Scottish welcome, along with a few others who arrived soon after us !

It even has a very interesting little museum ! And it is a working trainline, with stops (though we didn't see a train !).

Wonderful. A real treat from a disappearing world.
