“Welcome escape”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 May 2013

We stayed one night on our way home from Exeter. It was a bit further off the A303 (about 10 minutes along small country lanes) than I'd anticipated but well worth it. Setting is stunning and the owners are extremely hospitable.

Arriving tired after a full day's driving, what better greeting than a glass of wine sitting in the garden and taking in a marvelous view. Bob and Jane were excellent hosts, booking dinner for us in a nearby village (real England), and then a very comfortable sleep under the centuries old (but all mod cons) thatch. Believe all the previous comments about breakfast. A wonderful stay - thank you Bob and Jane.

We stayed for one night in the medieval room.Bob and Jane have put a lot of love and care into this B and B, Everything has been carefully considered and we had such a warm welcome it was hard to believe we weren't old friends. The house is beautifully renovated, retaining all the original features, like the medieval screen passage. High quality room, bed, shower and those extra touches like Shampoo, Simple Wipes and a torch for when you get out of bed in the night! Also a hairdryer a range of teas and drinks available in your room. Beautiful location, delicious breakfast, I could continue, but going to stay there yourself would be the best way to experience this delightful and comfortable Bed and Breakfast.

We over the years have experienced a number of very good B&Bs but Bob & Jane's establishment just edges ahead with what is " A great welcome into their home" experience.
Just Try it. ie; You will be not only be pleasantly surprised but will explore the possibilty of returning, even if you do not have reason to visit this part of the World again.

Absolutely beautiful, other reviews say it all. From the greeting on arrival with tea and biscuits overlooking the garden and countryside, wonderful hosts Bob & Jane. Best beds ever, and a wonderful breakfast.

We stayed over in the "Medieval Room" on the way down to Cornwall. The house has been renovated to a very high standard, while retaining the charm and period features. We were made very welcome and were given a great suggestion for a local pub where we had our dinner.
The bed was very comfortable and the shower room was very clean. While there were some low beams in this bedroom, I'm 6'3" and managed to easily avoid cracking my head.
Breakfast was superb and finished off our stay in style. It was well worth paying the extra money and driving the extra 10 miles / 20 minutes from the chain hotels in Taunton.
We would most definitely stay another time, and cannot recommend Farndon Thatch / Jane and Bob highly enough.

A warm welcome is assured from the hosts Bob and Jane. From the welcoming tea and biscuits through an unxepected evening tipple through to a fine cooked breakfast, the body was well cared for.

Luxury is the key word here. We stayed in the Medieval Room and were surrounded by stylish fabrics and linen with a bed that gave the sweetest night sleep. We slept so soundly we were a little late rising for breakfast!

Bob and Jane obviously enjoy entertaining and learning about people and their hospitality is excellent. Their enjoyment of good food was demonstrated at breakfast where the table was straining under the weight of the options including several home made jams and marmalades and fresh fruit from their garden.

The guest lounge is a lovely room to relax in and much nicer than feeling shut in your bedroom no matter how lovely a room that is!

Just wish we had longer to stop and enjoy the area.

Room Tip: The Medieval Room is en-suite
