“Relaxed and friendly”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 July 2014

We stayed for a night in the newly opened camping facility.
The toilet and shower were very clean and the shower was great.
We had tea in the pub and if was cooked by Chris and his wife, the fish and chips were excellent with a beautifully cooked 'huge' piece of fish.
The pub is dog and child friendly.
3 real ales on draft and well kept along with draft cider.
Some great gigs take place here in the barn and we just missed Lindisfarne.
Chris is very friendly and helpful.
The rooms here look excellent by the way.

My family and I have just left this location and are heading back to Cambridge after a 2 day stay at this lovely B&B. There were 11 in our group; aged 58 - 10 and staff catered for all our needs. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left we were looked after exceptionally; at the busy meal times friendly staff handled our complicated orders remarkably and when 2 grandparents came to stay impromptu the staff were happy for us to shuffle rooms and accomodate them despite being fully booked. Rooms were perfect; immaculate, huge double beds, lovely bathroom and all the little extras. Gracious portions and excellent quality food all round. Easy to find. Would definately stay here again.

I booked this hotel whilst driving south on business for me and my sales guy. On arrival we were greeted by the very friendly landlord and owner .check in was simple and easy and after a sample of the local ales we proceeded to our rooms. The rooms are adjacent to the pub and restraunt looking like converted stables. Very clean and fresh , walking wet room shower , fresh towels and toiletries.
We ate in the pub and I chose the very sizeable mixed grill , which was very very nice indeed. A good choice from the menu with real home cooked food . Not one complaint from us.
After our dinner we sat at the bar and were made very welcome by the locals chatting to us and making us feel very welcome.
We would not hesitate to stay at this hotel next time heading down from the north again.or pop in to say hi.
Thank you guys keep it up

Excellent accommodation, rooms larger than your average hotel rooms with huge beds, very clean, modern and well maintained. Couldn't ask for a better location, surrounded by beautiful rolling countryside hills, yet close enough to the local towns and amenities. Also only half an hour from the Jurassic coast which we ventured out to during our stay.
Exceptional food served in large quantities in the pub itself, along with a expansive wine list. The pub has a very relaxed and informal atmosphere and the sun terrace is a great place to relax after a days walking/exploring. Breakfast also very good and a wide range to choose from.
Owners and staff very friendly and went out of their way to ensure we had a pleasant stay.
Will definitely return.

Stopped off at this lovely country pub for Sunday lunch. Portions were large and of very good quality with freshly cooked vegetables (cauliflower cheese was a special treat). The staff were very friendly and attentive. Would definitely return.

The rooms are large and bathrooms very well appointed. Very big beds but mine had biro pen scribbles all over the linen. However, the breakfast is served in the pub bar which smelt strongly of stale beer and was very dark. Breakfast was OK but croissant were stale on the second morning. The whole pub could do with an update.

This pub was recommended by our B and B, and they were justified in the choice. Mine host was very friendly as was the young woman behind the bar. We ordered two meals, and honestly could easily have shared the one. The meals were very generous, hot and well prepared. That coupled with the atmosphere and very friendly locals made this a highlight of our day. Well worth seeking out.
