“Lovely weekend away”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 May 2012

We were a group of 7 girls and not many places would take such groups. We were there to get away for a few days for my friends 21st birthday and we had a lovely relaxing birthday. We had one of the Plus bungalows with the hot tub. Wasn't quite what we'd imagined in our heads, we'd pictured our own little garden with the hot tub etc, where as the hot tub was in a little fenced off bi tof it's own- none the less it did the job and it was very relaxing! Gym was excellent and I was pleased to make full use of the powerplate as it costs me a bomb to use at home!
We were very lucky and had gorgeous weather so we spend our days at Southwold, Norwich and Great Yarmouth. We also went to see the seals- well worth a trip- incredibly amazing to see them all a few meters in front of you! We found them at Horsey Beach having driven around for a while. Worth persisting!
Staff were very friendly- nothing ever too much trouble.
Highly recommend!

Thank you for your review. I am very pleased that you enjoyed your stay and that you enjoyed some of the local attractions in the area and I agree with you , watching the seals close up is amazing.

We arrived for a three night stay on the coldest weekend so far this year. Upon arrival we were directed to our bungalow which was warm, clean and well equipped. Within minutes, a friendly chap arrived to show us how to operate the hot tub. This place is perfect for a spa break with gym, swimming pool, sauna and massage and beauty salon on site. The hot tub was super and we even used it in the snow but it was lovely and warm.

We used the restaurant for dinner Saturday night and Sunday lunch, prices were reasonable and would recommend the Sunday lunch but do book as it gets very busy. Desert portions were on the small side though.

The staff on site are all very friendly and helpful - 5* for customer service.

The village has a number of shops and a pub but would not recommend the pub as beer was flat and wine tasted like vinegar on both days. The pets corner outside the site is a great place to spend an hour or so.

Loved this place and wanted to go back next week but all the bungalows with hottubs are fully booked and for all the bank holiday weekends so obviously a popular place.

Couple of suggestions to give, there was no fire evacuation plan in the bungalow or meeting point. There is a smoke alarm in the small hall but an additional one in the lounge would be sensible as the kitchen leads off. I'd would rather have paid extra on the bill for electricity either at the beginning or checkout as kept worrying if the meter was going to run out - it does eat up the electricity, our average use £5 per day without using the bedroom heaters.

Overall a really nice site, great staff and would love to return soon.

Thank you for your review. I am very pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us. You made some complimentary remarks, which we are all very pleased with.

You raised the point that there was no evacuation plan in the bungalow. I apologise for this, there should be plans in all the accommodation and we are in the process of checking which ones are missing.

With regard to the electric meters we believe that it is a fairer system in that our guests pay for the electricity that they use. The meters are set with a unit rate below a standard domestic rate, and we are happy to refund any unused cards at the end of a guests stay.

I hope I have addressed these points for you.

Once again very pleased that you enjoyed your stay and we hope to see you in the near future.

5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 November 2011

We visited the Broadland Holiday Village in August for 7 days. It was just the three of us (our son being 20 months old) staying in a 1 bed bungalow with hot tub. We chose this because I remember Oulton Broad from years gone by and the price for an August holiday was little over £400 for the week including our exclusive use hot tub.

On arrival, the staff were very friendly and helpful and gave lots of opportunities to ask questions. Our bungalow was at the end of a terrace with a well equipped (compact but suitable) kitchen. The living room was quite large with two sofas, coffee table and 2 seater dining table. The hot tub was on decking immediately outside the patio door from the living room and enclosed with screening. The bedroom was compact but we got our travel cot in. My only grumble was the bed which was standard double and with a bar by the foot (being 6'5" is always a struggle) and so not the most comfortable.

The accommodation was very clean and tidy. The hot tub was warm and ready and best of all clean and was used well in the evening. The holiday village was compact with childrens play equipment dotted about but was very peaceful and well landscaped. Our son loved the swings. My wife used the pool and she said it was clean and never too busy. The club house was reasonable and good for a drink. The laundrette also came in handy.

In the locallity there is lots to do with Pets Corner a pleasant diversion for a couple of hours. The Nicholas Everett Park was lovely for a stroll in the evenings. Lowestoft beach and Great Yarmouth were surprisingly clean and made for great days out. Norwich is nearly an hour away and there was so much more we could have done.

We would love to go back maybe with extended family as this was such a lovely break with so much to do whatever the weather. It is also just over 2 hours from the M25 and a snip of the price of a Haven which we found pleasant but busy and noisy at night. By the way there is a railway station next to the site which is unobtrusive and useful for those without a car.

Nick, thank you for the review. Really pleased that you found your welcome friendly and helpful, and that the bungalow was clean, tidy and well equipped.
The site has always tried to market ourselves as a good base to explore the area. On our website we have produced some fact sheets with all the activities and attractions that are within easy reach of the site.
I would like to point out that the railway station is Oulton Broad South, and there is also Oulton Broad North Station which is 15 minutes walk away.
Thank you again for taking time to post the review and we look forward to seeing you in the future.

We had a short break at the Broadlands (Fri - Mon) at the begining of October.
The reception staff were very friendly and helpful and our bungalow was ready earlier than stated which was good after a long drive.
Overall the bungalow was quite good, very clean but a little dated in the bathroom and kitchen.
The bed was very hard and I had backache after the first night so I had to sleep on the sofa for the remaining two nights.
We had a hot tub with our bungalow and were pleased to find the water was perfect (Ph and chlorine), we have a hot tub at home and bought our test strips with us as water management is very important hygienically.
There is a club house on site which has a bar and seves food. We ate twice there and found the food to be avarage.
There is an indoor swimming pool and a hair and beauty salon but we didn't use them so can't comment on them.
The Broadlands is situated right on Oulton Broad, there are lovely views and walks to be had, and its also very close to Lowestoft and Yarmouth.
Overall we enjoyed our stay but the uncomfortable bed will prevent us from returning.

Thank you for the review. Really pleased that you found your welcome friendly and helpful, and that the bungalow was clean and tidy. Since installing our hot tubs we have taken great care in managing their cleanliness and water quality and we are glad that you noticed and appreciated this.
It is a great shame that you did not let us know that you found your bed uncomfortable. We do have a selection of mattresses and are always happy to replace them because we have found that what is comfortable to one person is not necessarily comfortable to someone else.
Thank you again for taking the time to post the review.
