Had a fab one night stay here. Bracing January round of golf on the beautiful and well maintained course followed by lunch at the bar and an afternoon nap in the very large and comfortable bed. The room was very spcaious and comfy, immaculate and obviously newly renovated. Long soak in the bath - plenty of hot water and a drink from the bar brought to my room as I submerged in the tub.
We ate dinner in the restaurant and could not fault the food not the service. Lovely smiling and attentive waitress and a perfectly cooked chateuabriand, accompanied by the best chips we think we have ever tasted. Would like to go back in summer to enjoy the view from the restaurant. Great night sleep - bed so comfy and very quiet.
Breakfast was a triumph my husband had the full English which was cooked very quickly to order. I enjoyed the yogurts, fruit and pastries (still full from evening meal!). We finished off the weekend with a 5 mile loop round the countryside and back along the beach - great location.
All the staff were kind and attentive and we would like to return soon.

Room tip: Room 21 was large, comfy and recently renovated

We stayed here between Xmas and new year, friendly welcoming staff, superb breakfast, lovely large room. Our room was ground floor with a small patio area. We had a sitting room/bedroom with a desk, coffee making facilities, two easy chairs and a small table plus a king size bed, built in wardrobe with hairdryer, iron and ironing board. A lovely fully tiled bathroom with toiletries, beautiful fluffy white towels and bathrobes. The only thing that could have made it moderately better was a separate shower instead of over the bath one. Breakfast was plentiful and freshly cooked with a large choice. Overall a great stay in lovely surroundings.

We stayed here with friends to take advantage of the 2 day New Year package run in conjunction with the Country Club’s New Year Ball.
The Ball was good from the aspect of the food and entertainment despite the band making most of music by Eddie Cochran and Chuck Berry. A wider range of artists would have suited us better.
Transport was provided to and from the Country Club which is situated a few minutes away by car overlooking the sea. Some of the taxi drivers were a bit grumpy, one saying that he was going to finish earlier than the scheduled time to serve his other customers. Despite his threat we all got back to the hotel before curfew.

The Golf Hotel is a bit tired in many aspects. If it wasn’t for the golf I doubt that it would survive on its own. When we last stayed here in August 2014 we commented about the the luke warm buffet breakfast and poor choice of food at dinner. The good news is that they now take orders at breakfast but the dinner menu is still inferior to that available nearby, which is where we chose to eat on our first night.
We previously had rooms in the block adjoining the main building but this time had a room overlooking the 3rd tee. It was smaller than the other rooms and we were very conscious of the close proximity of our door to 5 other room entrances within 6 feet of each other. The door locks and keys are clumsy and very noisy.
We may well stay here again but it would only be the golf that brought us back.

Thank you for your feedback from your recent visit and New Years celebrations. We are a golf club with hotel and the overwhelming vast majority of our guests are here to play our superb 18 hole golf course and enjoy the beautiful surroundings in which we are situated. The room you stayed in overlooks the 3rd tee and 2nd green and while all of the doors to these 6 rooms go off the same landing they are all extremely private once inside, and all of these rooms have fantastic views over the golf course. I do apologize if you felt our menu was inferior as our recently opened Ogilvie's Grill House restaurant specializes in beef cuts and grilled chicken and fish all freshly cooked using local and seasonal ingredients, but i do appreciate that may not have been to your liking. I do hope you enjoyed your New Years eve celebrations and wish you a Happy New Year.

We had a family gathering to celebrate my 70th birthday and we were 15 in total. The hotel helped with the various dietary requirements, the childrens' meals etc. We set up the meal requirments beforehand and the seating etc so everything was ready when we arrived. The staff were excellent, helping the children with their food, willing to assist and bring more bread, food, drinks whatever was required. The two waitresses and the male host could not have been more helpful and it made a very enjoyable experience. The food was excellent, served hot and followed by mince pies and coffee. well worth the money and a second vist will be planned.

Well it took me back to a time when hotels were not refurbished all the time - things were slightly worn out but still all the essentials still worked. The room was out the back - not the best possible view - but OK. Room was spacious and comfortable.
Restaurant was not the top end but good food. Breakfast was very good. Staff were very friendly. Gardens were the best feature - so get a room with garden views if you can.

Room tip: Get a room with a view of the gardens
