“Very comfortable and quiet”
Reviewed 17 July 2016 for a stay in July 2016

House was very roomy and comfortable. Having the downstairs room was good as my mother has mobility problems although beds were too low and soft for the older person. Ronnie warmly welcomed us and left us with some useful tips about the area and eating. Would definitely recommend the Plaice and Thyme for eating. Travelled around the area as we had a car, which is highly recommended.

“Helmsdale Tardis - a true Scottish Sanctuary”
Reviewed 3 August 2015 for a stay in July 2015

Just back from a very relaxing stay at Scottish Sanctuary. Very impressive, clean, warm property in a quiet, friendly coastal village. This house is an excellent base for exploring the North. The house is centrally located, has more rooms than the Tardis and is minutes away from the harbor, shops, pubs and hotels. Would recommend the Belgrave Arms for food (esp the steak), fish and chips from the renowned La Mirage and drinks in the very friendly Bannockburn Inn. We went to The Orkney's for a day trip (Scrabster is quickest from Helmsdale) Visited Skara Brae, Standing Stones, Italian church, St Magnus Cathedral and still time for shopping in Kirkwall!! - great views of the Old man of Hoy from the very modern and well equipped ferry. Loads of sandy beaches, lochs and sheltered coves in the Helmsdale area.
