“Watch this space returns...”
Reviewed 18 April 2012

We returned to this hotel, having had a less than pleasant experience last year, because the response to our problem showed real concern & was backed by an offer of another visit at their expense by way of apology. Last time it was a weekend and a noisy wedding, this time it was half term for schools and there is the key - a very good venue for indulgent grandparents wanting to treat the family. The rooms are comfortable, the breakfast substantial and there is probably one of the best swimming pools you will find in this country, certainly at the prices this hotel offers. If a pub style bar complete with large screen TVs showing football will make your visit then look no further. Whether it is the place for those wanting peace and quiet, well maybe not.
This company score highly on customer service - even with a central reservation number they happily put you through to speak to someone in the hotel if you need to & the reservations manager and her staff couldn't be more pleasant and helpful. They could perhaps share some of their expertise with the dining room staff to improve matters further?
A good location with buses from the gate into the city.

Two women, 60+, loose in Leeds for 3 nights, wanting somewhere safe to stay with extras!
Hotel far better than we'd expected from some of the reviews. Gym and pool area better than Blackpool Village where I'm a member. Breakfast excellent all 3 mornings, quite busy from 9 a.m. but not chaotic and plenty of choice. Usual useless toasters endemic to hotels!
Staff helpful and pleasant in all areas of hotel and at all times.
Logistics:
We travelled by train, and bus service (#1 from rail station, signed Holt Park) is easy, be aware there are no in-bus indications re stops so ask. (Through Headingley, past BP station and new estate on left then press bell - about 25 mins). Cross road and walk to hotel (200 yards or so). Car? Loads of parking.
Frequent buses down into city and also to travel further afield, eg York - easy by bus, get #6 direct to bus station then Coastliner service every 15 mins, takes an hour; Harrogate - probably easier by train.
Skipton: if have time bus (1 an hour, same side as those from city) - lovely journey.
Saltaire and Salts Mill Heritage site thoroughly recommended, n.b. 3rd floor art exhibitions closed Monday and Tuesday. (Skipton train easiest as direct access from Saltaire stop).
Overview: We'll definitely re-visit.

Room Tip: If not with children, ask for quiet room!

Myself and partner recently stayed 2nights at the Devere Village North over Easter weekend. The hotel was full which is expected but we managed to find a parking space and check in quickly. The pool area was very busy but was nice, and towels are provided for guests. The rooms are basic and although they appear clean i found a used cotton bud behind the bedside table which looked like it had been there some time! The bed was comfy and we had a good nights sleep despite being at the front of the hotel. The free evening meal in the hotel was basic, and had i been paying the restaurant prices i would have complained. Breakfast was also average and the food was barely cooked. The pub is nice with a good atmosphere and they had evening entertainment which was a bonus. Overall i would return to this hotel as it is well situated on the outskirts of Leeds and only a £6 taxi ride into the centre, the parking and pub are also the other benefits to this hotel but the rooms could be a little cleaner.

We love this hotel. We return time and time again and are never disappointed. The staff go out of their way to meet our needs - nothing is too much trouble. We were there over Easter and even though the hotel was full, the standard never slipped. The breakfast is superb. The rooms are spotlessly clean and the leisure facilities next to none. There is everything at the hotel for a relaxing break from the minute the car is parked. The location is great. The city centre is a 10 minute drive and the dales only 20 minutes.

Stayed at other De Veres but first time at a village brand. The hotel was Neat & Clean. Good facilities as listed.. Rooms as expected - windows can be fully opened if requested otherwise the are set to a maximum opening for Health & Safety reasons. Reasonable prices at the bar. We were going to eat at Salvos but the weather put us off so we opted for 2 for £29 meal at the Grill which was surprisingly good. Breakfast also good. Friendly and we would go back as we booked direct and snatched B&B @ £49.00 plus £29 for even meal absolute value! Suitable for for everyone.

Room Tip: Bus stop immediate outside hotel grounds for either bars in town or Leeds City Centre so cheap for c...

Stayed here over Easter - hotel was full. Check in was fine, although they did not have a note of my 2 year old being in the room with us and had not made up the sofa bed. That was no problem - they asked when would be convenient to come up and do it and it was done. Loved the swimming pool area - used it three times in three days! Breakfasts were fantastic - nothing ran out and there were queues one morning! Room was clean and spacious. It was great to have a bath and shower in the bathroom as so often you only get a shower. We regularly come up to Leeds to visit family and this was the first time we stayed here - we would definitely stay here again. We were in a room on the first floor - there was a bit of noise from the bar area, but on the Saturday night I think the curfew was 11:30 pm as it suddenly went quiet then.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back probably don't get noise from the bar - see comment above.
