This hotel is an old property, but seems to be in the process of being renovated, at least the bedrooms if not the outside of the hotel. Consequently, the rooms are clean and cosy and you have everything you need at a very reasonable price. The staff are extremely flexible. One thing that I found a little odd was that breakfast was limited to a very short time slot - 7-8.15, which makes it very difficult to have a run before breakfast in the winter. Nevertheless, the staff were kind and flexible enough to leave some fruit and cereal out for me to have after my run.

Stayed here in November for a weekend away for my boyfriend's 21st. Had been messed around by the previous hotel I had booked so ended up booking here as there were no rooms left at a reasonable price in Leeds city centre.
Staff were pleasant and helpful, room was nice but everywhere felt really dark and a bit dated. Could be really nice if they redecorated and updated the rooms/facilities. Was also annoying having to get into town from there and I think in the space of two days we spent about £50 on taxi and bus fares into town and back (obviously not their fault but should be noted if you're staying here without a car and wanting to go into town).
Also, at night, the heating was on full blast and we were boiling. Bearing in mind it was November we had the window open wide all night and had the covers on the floor, so didn't sleep very well. However would rather be too hot than too cold i think.
Breakfast was nice, I just had beans on toast and a coffee, my only fault was that there was lots of butter on the toast under the beans but that's not a big deal and just my personal preference.
Overall, hotel seemed clean, was reasonably priced and staff were polite.

Stayed here when visiting Leeds University Open Day, easy to find with free parking and frequent buses to the town centre and university just outside. When we arrived at 9.30pm we were met by friendly, helpful staff. Rooms fine for the price, clean and comfortable (£96 b&b for single and double). Breakfast was great, and set us up for the day ahead. Not 5 star but does the job just fine.

Came to Leeds to visit my son at university and needed a place to crash at the end of a long day. For the price the AG fit the bill. I had a single. Had just enough room for me and my suitcase. Shower was a bit tight but was hot and powerful enough. The room could have been cleaner, and there was some dust and old piece of soap on top of the shower door. I didn't care about ambiance as I was just there to sleep. Didn't have the breakfast because I just needed a cup of coffee and a powerbar. Starbucks is right up Ottley road in the Village Hotel and there is a 24 hour Spar gas and convenience store right across Ottley Road. Just be careful when crossing and look the correct way. This place is not for my family but for myself, was perfect. I will stay here again when I come back next year. Hopefully they have a talk with the cleaning staff and motivate them a little more. It's not about just changing the sheets, you need to dust.

This hotel provides all the essentials - en-suite rooms, free wifi, a breakfast that is cooked for you (rather than the buffet style adopted by most chain hotels). There is a bar if you want a drink and the staff are very efficient and friendly.
For the cost it provides excellent value for money - very important in these economic times. Recommend it un-reservedly. John Saunders from Oxfordshire

Room Tip: Rooms to the rear are quiter. The front rooms overlook the main A660

Have been making a few late bookings due to impromptu trips to visit a friend in hospital and picked this hotel late on the evening of arrival.
Phoned through explaining that I was at the hospital and the receptionist/manager kindly agreed to extend the check in time.
I was in a large room with a double and a single bed. Furniture and fittings were nice enough, standard 'home' pine bed, wardrobe, drawer unit etc. Clean and fresh bedding. Comfortable mattress.
Large ensuite bathroom had the noisiest shower I have ever heard, sounded like a hairdryer with gravel inside, but it was hot and it was powerful so it did the job.
Can't comment on breakfast as I didn't stop for this.
Hotel is in Headingley within reasonable walking distance of nice bars and restaurants.
A handy stopover if you are working in the city centre and want to save £20-£30 on a central 'chain' hotel.
I would say it's good value for a solo traveller who wants a nights sleep, not really for couples/romance.

I arrived sleep deprived and too early for check in. But that didn't deter the Ascot Grange from allowing me to come straight over, and to also offer me a free upgrade. Wonderful mattress, pristine room, reviving shower with the eco extra of providing a large refillable dispense rather than lots of little plastic bottles. From booking to check out they were courtesy and helpfulness personified.

They have an excellent relationship with a local taxi firm that felt like an extension of the hotel's hospitality.

The decor may not be boutique style and there may not be a swimming pool or fitness centre but it's very well connected for both city centre and the airport.

Trip Advisor doesn't have a category for kindness that is the essence of hospitality and my experience of this hotel was 5* in that category.
