LIke many other reviewers, we stayed here to finish our last two legs of the Ridgeway Path. Ogbourne St George is a sleepy little village and quiet too. We couldnt fault the food, delicious and very accommodating to my dairy free needs and all freshly cooked to order. The decor is to a high standard and a lot of time and thought has gone into the finishing touches. The room was good value (£118 for two nights B&B) but too small for our liking. It was ok for two nights but the storage space was very minimal so you would struggle for a longer stay, and living out of our cases meant we were forever squeezing round things in the room. I suspect it is this was to fit more rooms in. Also I would have loved the option of a bath after 12 miles walking, a shower is not quite the same! Very friendly owners and if you want somewhere for a short stay whilst walking, this is very convenient.

Room Tip: Perhaps the deluxe rooms would be larger.

We stumbled upon this place whilst walking The Ridgeway, originally only stopping for a coffee! We ended up spending the night and having dinner here :-) the owner was so friendly we just couldn't face the climb out!
The room was very pleasant & clean (slight niggle was the free Internet which insisted on continual logging off & T mobile had no 3G ).
We had a really excellent dinner, steak was a good tender cut from a real butcher and cooked to perfection. My vegetarian walnut croquettes were unusual and delicious. Not sure I can write and do justice to the date sticky toffee pudding only to say it was sublime.
Amazing value for money too :-)

My husband and I have just spent a very pleasant stay at this hotel 28-29th Feb 2010 Very friendly family that own this hotel and made to feel very welcome We had room 6 "Silbury" after the Silbury mount which is 4000 years old. I have read the other comments on this site and find it amazing what people can say to ruin someones business which they try very hard to run We did not eat there in the evening as we fancied a pub atmosphere so walked around to the Inn with the well, big mistake landlady had a face on, not much conversation, pulled a end of barrel pint which was quickly replaced by husband, and then the steak was touch later in the evening, but she did say she would not charge us for. If we go again it will e at the hotel. The breakfast was fresh and tastey. Thankyou we enjoyed our stay Pauline & Derek .

Room Tip: We always ask for a quiet room Room 6 is very good

We stayed at this hotel in the little town of Ogbourne to break up two legs of a walk along the Ridgeway. The rooms are on the small side but quiet and very pleasant, with everything you'd need, and a very comfy bed with more pillows than you can shake a stick at. What makes this hotel really stand out, though, is the food. Frankly, it's brilliant. I had the best evening meal I've ever had in any hotel (ham and eggs - just amazing) and breakfast was similarly sensational, with nothing but locally sourced food. Just wonderful. The hoteliers were kind and friendly, and all things considered I cannot praise this hotel highly enough.

We walked the Ridgeway, so steamed in on our own feet, and how very pleased we were to find this contemporary establishment, tidy, clean and efficient rooms and an excellent dining room [really the only game in the village] with Mark as owner/chef presiding. This was a real find especially after 10 miles of walking.

Room Tip: Make sure you book for dinner - it's great!

This is a good stop over hotel, I stayed here on business and found it good value for money. The food is very good, the proprietor and his wife very obliging and the rooms ok for the price. However it is run as a business and the owner's attitude might not suit all. Another review mentioned having items stolen, the layout of the building might encourage opportunists, one always has to be careful in hotels................ Overall good though, and an ok nearby if you like beer!

Room Tip: The back rooms might be quieter.
