Have been visiting Witley Court from a very young age and have plenty of fantastic memories. Love visiting, especially when the sun's out! Remember to pack a picnic!

This was my second visit to Witley court and have thoroughly enjoyed them both. You really get a feel of how grand and splendid the once great house was. The grounds are extensive with beautiful landscaped gardens around the house and woodland and lakeside walks. The huge Andromeda fountain is a sight to behold and in the summer goes off every hour. You get audio guides which tell you the history of Witley court and are very informative. There is also a magnificent church in the grounds with a beautifully painted ceiling and stainded glass windows
Well worth the entrance fee.

We stumble across this when my friend was looking at tourist information leaflets....what an interesting place. We spent 4 and a half hours. It is mainly ruins, but the main shell of the court is there and there is an audio that I would recommend you get. The gardens are beautiful and the fountain is worth a view. There is also a church which is actually not part of Witley Court itself, but is so ornate with all its gold that you must not miss it.
We also had a coffee in the tea rooms, once again not part of Witley, but a five minute walk. All in all a good day

The finely preserved ruins of what was once one of the "aristocrat's palaces" are seen at their best in early summer - the rhododendrons in their blowsy beauty, the imaginativly reconstructed East Parterre ablaze with flowers, the superb sight of the great Androndomean fountain with the water sparkling in the sunlight are certainly a day-out not to be missed. Also visit the adjoining Great Witley Church - the finest baroque church in Britain with windows, carving, & a massive marble tomb.
Finish your visit with lunch in the old walled garden at The Garden Tea Rooms - excellent home made food - the genuinely local pork pie is a speciality - and gracious welcome from the charming Gill.
It's been well restored and now well managed by English Heritage. They have rescued what was a wreck & a ruin, brought it to life, and now it's yours to enjoy Do go before too many people discover this unique survival of an earlier age
