Nice rooms though not well equipped for a family.
A little too far from anywhere which may also be considered as an advantage.

The kids loved it.

The maintenance level was a little low and the service was not too friendly as we expected.

Dear Mr. Avital,
On behalf of Valamar Hotels and Resorts, and me personally, I would like to thank you very much for staying in our hotel. We are grateful that you have shared with us impressions from that period. I feel sorry we didn’t completely meet your expectations in the matter you comment to us. We took this really seriously and we have immediately added the point into our training-program in order to develop our service quality and courtesy up to your total satisfaction.
I'll use this opportunity to thank you once again and invite you to visit us again next year.

Positive:
Kids Club - the staff there was absolutely amazing, our kids loved it. If we come back this will be one of the top reasons.
Resourt Layout - Very spacious and family friendly, resort is fenced so kids feel safe. Indoor playground and activities for rainy days. Large outdoor playground, lots of options for kids, nice activity pool. Fitness room is great.
Staff - very friendly and attentive.

Could be better:
Food was OK but a bit bland, would have expected a bit more for a 4* resort. No salmon available for breakfast. No diet coke available during the meals. Long queues for the grill, since they only place the meat there when you arrive, and then you stand around for 5 minutes until it is done. Would be nice if chef could adapt to demand and place stuff on grill autonomously.
Animation - very noisy and intrusive. Guests at the activity pool in the late season consisted of families with small children, however the animation team attempted to force a techno party spring break on us. Please adapt animation program and volume to match the season and guest profile.

Negative:
Cleanliness of pool area - garbage and glasses/cups (partially from the previous day) were not collected. By the afternoon, kids were running slalom between coffee cups, cocktail glasses, baby diapers and other junk.
This item has already been mentioned several times in the reviews here, and the management response always promised to "improve staff training" - obviously it did not work!!!
How hard can it be to have someone walk around the pool every two hours and collect the garbage/dishes?

Overall I would still recommend this hotel, however I hope my comments help to improve further.

We just came back from our 2-week stay at the Valamar Club Tamaris and are overall satisfied with our stay. We had the all-inclusive package and stayed in a family suite in a side complex.
Points to consider are:
Service: Very good. Very nice and cordial employees, especially with children. Valamar is a rather big chain of hotels in Crotia and you see that it is well managed and the employees are well trained. Nearly everyone speaks Italian, German or English.
Facilities: We did not try everything, but what we used was in good condition. Although the complex is not the newest, the management does a good job in keeping everything in excellent shape. Everything extremely clean (pools, rooms, etc.)
Beach: That is the weak point. The water is not really crystal clear and the beach is quite small - besides you have to share it with the camping site
Restaurants: Main restaurant very good and good variety of food - after one week you are getting a bit bored with the food, but I guess that is normal. The Istrian restaurant was nothing special - we did not try the fish restaurant
Pool Bar: That was the second weak point. Selection of drinks rather poor - quality as well (although not part of the all-inclusive package). No snacks available.
Kid's Club: Very good. Starts already with babies until 17 years - offerings for everyone and nice employees.

Overall a recommendation, although beach and sea were under our expectations.

Room Tip: Main building is rather noisy in the evenings.

Brilliant situation, friendly and extremely competent staff, splendid food, lots of activities, very good parking facilities, kids clubs, mountain bikes at disposal, this "villa" formula, which includes air conditionning, 2 bedrooms, 2 bathroooms, a private terrace, sat.TV, fridge, kitchen, internet access, etc. is highly recommandable ! A superb hotel for families with kids.

Very big place with 3 main hotel complexes. Rooms are rather small but still ok. Nice swimming pools. Food in restaurant is very good but restaurant is quite crowdy in the high season. Our son went to the Maro club and he really liked it (big thanks to the animators in the club!!) even when he did not speak the languages of the other children (son is Dutch speaking). Overall, recommendable place!

We've done the mandatory family resort trips before: five star resorts in Turkey (Antalia region) and Rodos. All were very nice, each had its pros and "to be improved" features. None gave the feeling of the local culture really(one could spend significant money and time on daily excursions), each was relatively far from our country(must fly).
This year we have found a better solution: at the end of June we traveled to the Valamar Tamaris Resort, near Porec on the Istrian (Croatia) coast. Driving distance from Budapest (6 hours), Valamar Tamaris Residence (within the resort) is located on a peninsula, and unlike many resorts where buildings are condensed and close to each other, our private apartments were spread in a huge and well maintained park with trees, flowers and pedestrian walkways. The 4 star apartments Calendula and Menta look brand new, each have two bathrooms, well equipped kitchen, fridge, aircondition, and all terraces (with remote controlled sunshields above them) overlook the sea. Comfortable beds, LCD television, and FREE WIFI access everywhere! The central amenities include a pool complex with waterpark toys, 14 clay tennis courts, a private harbor for water toys, several bars and restaurants. One can pay with a keycard almost everywhere, just like in any modern resort. The beach is very well maintained, rocky and pebble (small stones, but no sand), with sunbeds and umbrellas for rent. The water is crystal clear, and everyone can find a spot of choice along the 2 km shore within the resort.
Although we did not buy any meals in our package(there is a good quality, abundent central all-inclusive restaurant), there are amazing opportunities to eat well. There is an al fresco breakfast and lunch bar near the pool in front of the apartment house Mirta, where an amazing breakfast is served every day between 8-11 (11:30 is about the last call). Salmon, Croatian prsut (ham), cheese, rolls and croissants out of the oven, fresh fruits, and any egg dish you desire prepared by a chef on the open air barbecue fireplace for only 50 Kuna per adult, and 35 Kuna per kid(full cost per 4 member family around 30 EUR). That "breakfast" lasted all day, and its quality matches any Four Seasons resort. As a comparison, one shopping for breakfast (milk, ham, cheese, bread, tomatoes, eggs and water) at the resort grocery cost a little bit more than 30 EUR, and there were no leftovers for next day... so I recommend this to all families, who like to stay up late and sleep till 10 while on vacation, enjoy quality service and food, and have a limited budget.
For dinner, we first tried the obvious: Konoba Delfin at the tip of the peninsula, a typical restaurant for dagnje (black mussels) and lignje (baby calamari). Although not bad, that place is separate from the resort, do not accept the room keycard, and is relatively expensive when you order full dinner with soft and alcoholic drinks (400-500 Kuna, about 120 EUR per 4 person family). If you'd really like to experience Istrian cuisine, go to the Valeta Restaurant near the tennis centre and just beneath the pool complex of the main building. This restaurant is a bit more formal place with an open view kitchen (the chef and its team work in the middle, you can see everything they do). They serve mouthwatering seafood risotto on a bed of rockets, topped with real truffles, and perfectly soft medium-rare steak with truffle sauced tagliolini – the best starter-maincourse combination of the place this season. Congratulations to the young chef, great job! Although prices are higher than in Delfin, contents are incomparably better(never had to pay more than 150 EUR).
The whole resort is very similar to Istria in general, and is nothing to compare with tematic resorts that have no local character (most could be built even in your neighbouhood at home, you would never realise the difference). It might be interesting to make a small excursion around to explore more local places: drive to Porec or any other Istrian town (you can reach many of those within an hour), take a boat trip to the Limski Kanal (an amazing fjord penetrating the Istrian peninsula) and visit the pirate’s cave – kids will love it.
One comment about the reception staff and their chief: we booked through an agency, and somehow the resort reception missed(or never received) our wish regarding the four families traveling together wanted to stay in neighbouring apartments. We finally accepted that it was not possible to match this request on the spot, and still stayed pretty close and had a lot of fun. On our final day, the manager at the reception allowed us a late check-out, meaning two apartments until 18:00, so we could enjoy a full day on the beach on our last day. Very nice and solution oriented approach, congratulations to all Tamaris Resort staff!!!
I absolutely recommend this place, especially for families with kids above 6 -8 years of age, you will have a lot fun, great experience of beach, sports, food and service!

Room Tip: 4 star apartment houses: Menta - ground level apartments only (noone above you) Calendula - ground...

Most impressive was the food: fabulous tastes, huge variety - definitely not for those who wish to loose weight : ) Be aware that all inclusive light rather means full board than real all inclusive, since there is absolutely no snacks or anything, neither any beverage between the main meals, only for extra charge. Using sunbeds, parasols and towels are free of charge at the pools, but except towels highly charged at the beach. For adults the beach is fine comparing to other Croatian sites that we saw till now: plenty of shadow and sunbeds, staircase leading to deep water directly and concrete bridge over the rocky area as well, leading to water up to the hips. Lot of options to have fun, from UFO ride to pedal boat. The hotel provides many animation programs and sport facilities as well. The standard room is tight and also low, especially at the antechamber where its not more than 210 cm according to our estimation. No luxury, but professional mass tourism for an active vacation with children.
