“Dump - never again”

My friend and I stayed for one night only (thank goodness) at this B&B. Our purpose for staying in Dublin was to attend two dog shows at the nearby showgrounds at Clontarf. First impressions were not good - the yard was covered in weeds and looked like a rundown building site. The host was not exactly welcoming and full of irish charm. She wanted payment on arrival and then showed us the dining room, informing us that we had to help ourselves to breakfast!! If we had known this there is no way we would have booked this accommodation. Both of us have stayed in many B&B's all around Ireland and we have NEVER been treated like this. We have always had a cooked breakfast and offered a beverage and snack on arrival. Both of us had the impression that she couldn't be bothered to get out of bed in the morning (we wanted breakfast at 8.30 not 6 in the morning). The room was an ok size but the bathroom was tiny with only one teeny weeny bar of soap for two people. There was nowhere to hang wet towels except on one hook on the back of the bedroom door. The wardrobe had no door and the TV and kettle were perched on top of it - which I couldn't reach. Thinking that it was a bit of a health hazard to have the kettle up there, I looked for a plug behind the bedside cabinet only to find about half an inch of dust. Obviously a case of "out of sight, out of mind". It didn't get better. Next morning there was no orange juice left, one yoghurt in the fridge, white bread only and about 3 cereals. Because no staff were to be seen, we had to eat our breakfast amongst dirty tables where other guests had been. The dining room looked onto a tiny patio and a huge hedge and again the weeds on the patio were about 2 foot high. If you're looking for typical B & B accommodation in Ireland, don't bother going to this place. Never again - I'd rather sleep in the car and not have any breakfast!

My husband and I almost stayed at this B&B on our last night in Ireland. We booked the B&B quickly without much research because we were staying during the Ryder Cup Golf outing and the pickings were slim. We should have looked harder. We were booked for out last night and were leaving the next morning from the Dublin Airport. The location to the airport is good once you find the B&B. We called for directions but go no answer and had to make several stops at gas stations and resturants to ask for help. The B&B is located down a long access road which is a little creepy in the dark. Upon arriving we were quickly charged for the remainder of the bill (the inital deposit was charged as soon as we made the reservation) and quickly showed to our room.

We had booked a double room and were give a room with 3 single beds in it. Not a big deal, but not what we booked. The owner went to put up the shade for light and quickly lowered it when she saw the view of the trash cans. She then explained that breakfast was self serve and that there would be cereal, meats, cheeses, fruit and fresh water left out for us in the morning. We went back to the room and after a closer look noticed cobwebs in the corners, dry wall chunks missing, and stuff growning in the shower. I wasn't happy to spend our last night in Ireland here so when we went to dinner we booked a room at the Tulip Inn (very nice!). My husband went back for the bags and we never heard from them again.

Give this place a lot of thought before you book it. At 70 euros a night it's only good for the location. Oh and don't forget that with the proximity to the airport comes airport noise. It's not the way to spend your last night in Ireland.

We recently stayed at this guesthouse having booked it over a month prior to our stay due to the fact that we were attending a wedding nearby.

On booking the room, I explained to the landlady our reasoning for needing the room for 2 nights etc and she took my booking. She also took the cost of one night from my credit card shortly after this phonecall!

When we got to the guesthouse, which was very convenient for the airport, we were shown to our room which contained 3 single beds. I had been expecting a double room considering she would have known we were a couple but she justified this by saying that her guesthouse was made of up twin or double rooms and because we were staying 2 nights she had done us some kind of favour by giving us the largest room with 3 single beds!

We were also told that breakfast on a Saturday morning only ran for an hour :9.30-10.30. She was, however, knocking on our door at 9.45 to ask us if we wanted breakfast. I presume this was so that she could get it over with more quickly! She also informed us that on Sundays, breakfast was self service but not to worry because there would be loads of meats, cheese etc. left out. When I went into the deserted breakfast room on the Sunday morning, all that was there was cereal!

For €70 per night, you really are not paying for any kind of service at all and to me, this seems easy money for the proprietors of this guesthouse. If you need somewhere to stay close to the airport then the Clarion Airport Hotel do rates of €78.50 per night....a FAR superior service.!
