We decided 2 book the racket hall for my wife's 40th birthday. 14 of us headed down on Saturday 14th December for an overnight stay which included evening meal as part of Xmas package and the Derek Ryan show as entertainment. All of the party were delighted with their rooms and the hotel upgraded my wife and I to the honeymoon suite as a surprise 4 her birthday at no extra charge. Room spotlessly clean, super 4 poster comfy bed and lovely big bathroom with jacuzzi bath. Meal was excellent with choice of starters main course turkey or salmon and a choice of deserts. All served quickly, piping hot and large portions. Derek Ryan show was outstanding as was Ray Montanna who played until 4 in the morning in the bar. A great night had by all thoroughly recommend

Just back from a wonderful stay in Rackett Hall, and I have to say, what a way to start of 2014. This hotel is one of the kind. We booked the 2 night stay and from start to finish, this hotel was first class. Our room was just so nice, breakfast was top notch, you don’t leave hungry and for the dinner that was included in our package was just excellent. Hotel staff were nearly too nice and very welcoming. If you are planning to stay there, try and stay there when there is entertainment going on in the hotel as this makes your weekend, after a bit of country music on Saturday night, we are still laughing today. Thanks to the Rackett Hall for a great weekend, we will be back again.

We stayed here on 30th December for 1 night. Their staff are the best I have encountered for quite some time. I booked through the internet and didnt have a print out of the price etc.,
The girl on reception had no internet due to the bad weather but our check in was so smooth and she took my word on what deal I had secured.
Bredrooms huge and very clean. We ate in the restaurant and value for money was excellent.
Again staff were very attentive. It was cosy and had a lovely christmas feel to the experience. Breakfast was made to order and came piping hot.
We attended the dance on Monday night with free entrance. The grounds are beautiful.
Would definately stay here again.

I booked this deal on pigsback as a surprise for my boyfriend. After reading the reviews on tripadvisor the majority of the reviews were very positive but this in my experience was not the case. The deal I purchased was a two Night Stay with Breakfast & Steak or Salmon Dinner for Two at Racket Hall Country House Hotel, Tipperary which we availed of in late August 2013. I thought the deal was very impressive whilst browsing several get away deals but perhaps a little too good to be true..Upon arrival at Racket hall the outside of the building was lovely, they have a great size (free) car park and lovely gardens. I was aware, that in the terms and conditions it states that check in is from 4pm but we arrived around 2:30pm, as I thought that we might be able to check in early (or avail of a complimentary upgrade by request, which is sometimes the case in quality hotels) or if not we could not just head to the bar whilst we waited for our room. Upon approaching reception we were however greeted with "If you're looking to check in, you're too early and will have to come back" from a sizeable distance. This was not the welcome I was expecting nor anticipating, fair enough if the rooms were not ready but I felt this greeting a little rude and without an acceptable civil or basic welcoming. There was no offer of refreshment or even a directive to the bar area so basically the only communication from the hotel was to advise us that we would have to wait until 4pm, the receptionist didn't even check out our names to confirm that we had a booking. Eventually after getting our room, it was fair but not the best. There was mould in the bathroom, the main curtains were hanging down and there were stains on the dressing table. We subsequently requested a different room at reception, where we were advised that Racket hall was fully booked out that evening and we would have to pay an additional one hundred and fifty euro to avail of an available superior room. I have to say I wasn't impressed. People work or save hard to get away occasionally and this is most definitely not an acceptable welcoming protocol and therefore additional welcoming training is required immediately.
On the good side, the bar staff and restaurant staff are very nice and helpful. The food is the saving grace of this hotel. The portions are sizeable and the taste experience of the food is fabulous. The bar and the restaurant are one room, so where you eat your breakfast also doubles as the bar area.
We also went into Birr (Birr castle is great value at nine euro each) and the main street is worth a leisurely afternoon browse. Roscrea town is a short driving distance away(you wouldn't walk it, a dangerous road with no illumination).

The are two many good hotels in Ireland that strive for business on a daily basis. Even the bed sheets were the wrong size , therefore crumpled immediately producing an uncomfortable sleep. The simple little things matter to customers and I would ask as to why no-one employed within the hotel to inspect the intricate details within the rooms prior to the arrival of any guest? It is always a good development practice of a hotelier not to become complaisant with their current standards but to continually act upon and work on their customers experiences. This hotel requires a capital injection to give it a reviving facelift. Great idea of the deal packages but in review monies not well spent.

I stayed in this hotel for 13 nights.
The price is really good for what is delivered.
Big rooms, Big Beds, impecable cleaness.
The staff at the reception are not very friendly, actually they are quite rude.
But when you go to the bar and restaurant thats where the good staff is. They are very friendly, polite and they make you feel very good.
The food is not very good, but not that bad either.
At lunch the carvery should vary more, as I lunch there for 12 days in a row, i was always eating the same things.
One important tip, there are no laundry service at the hotel, it took me 5 days to get my clothes clean. If you use the laundry service, you know wath this means and the incovenient that i'm talking about !!! :)

Room Tip: The best is to booked a room for the car park, because during the weekend there always some events a...

Great value warm welcoming hotel friendly staff, great food and very nice rooms. Highly recommended. Situated in beautiful grounds in the heart of Ireland. The local villages are equally friendly and quiet. Don't have kids but other customers did and they were well catered for.

We recently booked a weekend stay including 3 course meal at Racket Hall Country House. Unfortunately it was not a very pleasant experience.
The food served at the hotel was absolutely appalling. The quality of our first meal was so poor that we sent it back to the kitchen. Part of the meal was served cold and part was under cooked. The menu was also extremely limited (three of the six main course choices were steak). Meals were literally thrown together with little regard for presentation. When it comes to the restaurant, it certainly seems to be a case of quantity over quality.
Though the rooms in this hotel really are quite nice and the staff are friendly and helpful the hotel does not live up to its potential. Despite it being an extremely cold winters day, the fire in the drawing room remained unlit throughout the day and the entire evening. No sports coverage was available on Saturday evening in the bar. Despite reception assuring us that wifi was available throughout the hotel, we failed to connect anywhere but the bar. Though we were staying in a suite, the curtains were held up by safety pins and the bathroom floor was dirty. Overall, it was a very anti-climactic and disappointing stay.
I certainly would not return, nor would I recommend staying here.
