Our stay at Aran Lodge was purely by accident as everywhere was full due to a long weekend and the fact that they had just had a cancellation.
Unwittingly I had emailed Joe several months before we came to Ireland asking about family history in the area. It was one random email sent out. Then I didn't have time to act on his reply. I did not know that they ran a B & B at that time. When we arrived and after giving our names etc, Deidre asked if I had emailed about family history. I looked at her amazed that she could know that. She said that I had actually emailed her husband Joe!!!!
They were the most amazing hosts. The rooms were spic and span, the view from our room upstairs was delightful across Bantry Bay. They were very informative and helpful and most of all friendly. I felt we were at 'home'. We stayed two nights instead of the original one and would love to visit again. Highly recommend this B&B - you won't find anywhere near as nice.
