I would rank our experience this weekend at Il Corazziere within some of the best hotel stays of my life.

Bear in mind I have been lucky enough to stay in many top hotels, including several of the "Leading Hotels of the World".

Whilst listed as a 4 star, and without the pomp and ceremony of some 5 star offerings, this is a VERY decent hotel. So much thought and effort has gone into it and so many details mark it out as a truly high quality establishment. Some of the things we noticed were:

- everything spotlessly clean
- every staff member friendly and polite
- really well written documentation (and the rare exception of really well written English as well). I particularly appreciated the explanation of some of the design and construction decisions.
- a huge environmental conscience yet not cutting corners. You could charge your electric car, for example.
- a cute, river facing sauna
- delicious, immaculately presented breakfast, with tasty local produce. Again, a much better selection than you might expect in a 'small' hotel.
- a 'retro' yet delicious restaurant next door.
- attentive and friendly staff, without being over-bearing
- attractive and relaxing location on a river, besides a watermill.
- really comfortable bed, and peaceful!

All in all, the feeling we got was one of pride. The family and staff running this hotel really care about it, and it shows. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending this hotel and hope to stay again in the future.

Room Tip: We stayed in a suite, which was lovely. Spacious, bright and comfortable.

After reading and using hundreds of reviews throughout the years, this is the first time I actually made it a priority to write a review. The hotel on their website IS NOT the hotel that they put people into. They have two hotels on this property...both named the same, one is newer and used on all their website images. The other is (just a few hundred feet away) is more of a roadside motel that is 1-2 stars at best. Ants running around the bathroom floor, no light in the hallways, dirty old carpeting. Basically a very creepy and depressing stay. They state that it is 25 min drive from Lake Como, which it is, but a very 'grungy, industrial, dark ride from lake como. On top of all if this, the owner/manager is an arrogant [--]. There are much better options available if you are looking to stay near Lake Como. Feel free to have a look at some photos that I've attached.
