“Brilliant family holiday-outstanding service!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 January 2013

We have returned from a weeks skiing holiday. Staying at the Sport Hotel Camparient was fantastico! The service, food, wine and attention to our children were outstanding. The Confortola family looked after us brilliantly. The Hotel is in the middle of the slopes and tuition for our children by Luca Confortola made him a hit with all of us. No car access means this is safe place for everyone-we sat on the balcony watching our children ski on the nursery slopes. The views of the MonteRosa mountain from the restaurant are breathtaking. This was our best holiday ever!

The hotel is located at Alpe di Mera directly on the ski courses with stunning views of the valley and the Monte Rosa.
We left the car at the mountainside parking and arrived at the hotel after an exciting snowmobile night ride, which I strongly recommend instead of getting up by chair lift, a less expensive ride but longer (no more than 10' by snowmobile) and freezing cold!

We stayed for the week-end on half board in a superior room (n.105) which was really comfy: bathroom with Frette towels and bathrobes, beds with white duvets and a big wardrobe. Our room had a small lovely balcony with beautiful views of the surroundings.

This is not a luxurious hotel but is full of charm and has a cozy atmosphere that we loved. Common spaces are tastefully decorated and invite to relax. The hall has a small fireplace where we indulged after a “busy” skiing day, the dining room is bright and offers terrific views, the TV room is perfect if you have children and at the bar you can enjoy good drinks and appetizers. Main newspapers and magazines are complimentary and at guests disposal in the hall.

Children are very welcomed, on Saturday evening they organized a little party for them with separate dinner and music which gave us the possibility to relax a little bit more!

Breakfast was good, not outstanding; I would suggest widening the choice of home-made breads and cookies. Dinner surpassed our expectations, the choices from à la carte menu were several, all tasty and delicious and one day we had a raclette and fondue bourguignonne dinner which was great.

All in all it has been a fantastic vacation in a place with no frills and outside the world.

Our special thanks go to all the Confortola family, the hotel owners, for their kindness and helpfulness with every requests we made during our vacation and a very special mention goes to Luca, the vibrant soul of the hotel, perfect barman (we loved your spritz!), excellent snowmobile rider, great supervisor of every single detail, endlessly moving, never tired and always smiling which made the huge difference.

We’ll be back!

For friendly, family service, this is the place. Marina and her family are great hosts and know the resort and the pistes inside out. The slopes are right outside the hotel and Mera itself is a little gem of a hotel. Marina found out it was my birthday and arranged a lovely surprise cake. Have lunch next to the window - you'll struggle to find a better view of Monte Rosa. Thanks Marina and gang - we'll be back!

Room Tip: Get a view looking up at Monte Rosa - a great start to the day

We visited this hotel for the first time this year during the summer season. While we were there we had a very personalised service from the Confortulla family who organised a variety of very enjoyable physical, culinary and sociable experiences that created a memory we shall never forget. The rooms were comfortable and spacious without being too luxurious and the views from both the bedroom windows and the restaurant downstairs are spectacular.

I have already planned a further trip this winter to witness the hotel in the snow.

We've stayed at Sport Hotel Camparient many times because of the situation - just about perfection. The views from the panoramic restaurant windows is totally stunning (every time you see it).
There are no cars in Alpe di Mera as there is no access. The only way up is chairlift. If you arrive at night then the hotel send piste-machines down the mountain to collect you with trailers for your luggage - awesome - like a scene taken from a Bond movie.
The food is quite good and is certainly varied. It's a very local style in the sense that if you are unfamiliar with the style, then British patrons (especially children) may not get what they expect.
The owners are a very welcoming family. Roberto and Marina (Mum and Dad) generally run the place with help from their two sons, a daughter and a few other usually 'smiley' assistants.
Pre-dinner canapés with a local (extra dry) Prosecco are usually served in the main bar. There is a basement disco with a bar and well-equipped sound system and danvce floor - very popular with the youngsters in the evenings.
As Camparient is the only hotel on the mountain, there is little in the way of entertainment other than table-tennis, sky TV, and a games console - oh, I nearly forgot... did I mention the bar?!
Ski to and from the ski room. Ski and boot hire is usually arranged in the hotel as are ski lift passes. Instructors are available to suit all abilities, both ski and snowboard. Generally, lift queues are virtually non-existent; except perhaps at the weekend during the holidays when the locals visit the resort.
All in all, it's a fabulous if not almost unique experience and ideal for children as it's as safe as a ski resort could ever be (no traffic).
