he views from every terrace and window from the villa are amazing. Very very peaceful apart from the odd dog barking and a cockerel! The villa is well equipped with bbq, oven, hob, kettle, toaster, even a pressure cooker and sandwich maker if you want to prepare food here rather than eating out. Very fast wi-fi. The pool is not heated but very welcome on a hot day. Linens, towels, hand soap and hair dryer are provided plus air conditioning in the sitting room, fire in there if it's in the colder months, stand alone fans and on the bedroom ceiling lights, plug in heaters and towel rail. Only recommendation we would make is to invest in another double bed - a more comfortable mattress and at least a king size (the room will easily allow this) and more mugs!
We didn't have a car as we've travelled around the area quite a bit before and were content with walking around this beautiful area. There is a lady in the village who runs a taxi service and she does longer runs such as to/from the airport, trips to other areas/towns, , shorter runs between the villages. She is very quick to respond to requests either by phone or email. There is also a bus service into Malaga 3 times a day (less on Sundays and festivals) which takes 2 hours.
We ate out most evenings and whilst there is a track from the back of the villa to Canillas it probably isn't advisable after a few glasses of wine at night even with a torch (the owner very kindly provided a torch when he knew we would not be having a car)! We did use the torch when walking on the roads at night when we'd eaten out. The track only cuts out a few minutes when sticking to the road. There are few different routes to Competa, one took us about 20 mins to walk there. Canillas was only about 10 minutes.
The owner, Rafael is a very nice man and shows you how to clean the pool if needed and is there on arrival to answer any questions you have. You will have his phone number for contact if needed during your stay.
We had a great time at this villa and would love to stay again in the future.

First time renting a villa and it was brill. Didn't like the drive up the mountains. But once u get to casa rafa the views are beautiful. The pool was plenty big enough for us ( 2 adults n 2 children). Raphael the owner was a
lovely friendly man. He came out a couple of times to clean the pool.If you get a chance to go into the
village. Definitely recommend bar cereso. The food is wonderful. Would also recommend hiring a car. Albeit after we first arrived we did a big shop ñ then just stayed in the villa the first couple of days. Also recommend going down the coast a bit to torre de la mar. Not a big tourist haunt which was absolutely brill. The parking is free all day. Definitely the least stressful holiday we have been on.
