What a completely unexpected joy. Had visited this place during a short business trip and never had any sort of real expectation as I would never class my self as a specialist foody critic. The place was really nice and subtle in design and the reason for that was that simply bring you great creations of complex food formations which seem to rise up from the place like a sculpture. Great tasting food and s great place to go, I possible will not get the opportunity to attend again but if was a nice place to go although admittedly I did not fully remember the trip as I had a little too much fine wine!

I have been an admirer of Martin for a few years, i was able to visit his restaurant last October, it was much better that i could ever imagine, from the attention of the staff to the food itself, the experience was outstanding, what this genius and his team do is out of this world, you’ll be satisfied, you get a lot of exquisite dishes, they also make their own breads, best restaurant i have ever been to, if you can take a trip there.

You could argue that it’s insane to pay €260 per head (before drinks) for lunch, but if so this is the kind of insanity that everyone should experience once. Between the bread with four flavours of butter, and the petits fours which finished the meal, we had 14 plates of deliciousness in the space of three hours. In a good restaurant, a nice dish would often make me smile, here most of the dishes actually made me laugh with delight. If ever the palate starts to wonder how many more flavours it can take, it gets jolted into wakefulness by another taste bomb. Not a single off note, which with so many ingredients is some trick to pull off. Most of the dishes were a feast for the eyes as well as the tongue, and a few deserve to be framed. Service was impeccable, super-attentive but relaxed and friendly and never pressured. Save up your lunch money for a year and go there.

Yes, possibly the best restaurant experience in/around San Sebastián. Considering the competition, that is very high praise (ask in the know locals). It’s about a 25 minute ride from the central city. The landscape and the dining room are exquisite. The service is beyond attentive. And the food? It’s elegant, beautifully prepared and SO good. We had the tasting menu of Chef’s most lauded dishes (probably 10-12) and each was a culinary delight. Chef comes to each table near the end to be introduced and meet you (he does not really speak English so one of the staff accompanied him). The staff speaks many languages so explanations of the dishes are in detail. The only caveat is that as a 3-star Michelin and with the restaurant’s reputation, this is a very, very expensive dining experience, especially when you consider the wine addition (extensive), maybe a pre-dinner cocktail and the taxi. So, it’s best to check out the cost before committing. However, if you are a real foodie, it will be a memorable meal.
