“Friendly Hotel”
Reviewed 2 December 2013

We stayed here last week in November, a group of 5 people. A very nice reception offering a glass of cava or juice on arrival. Our rooms were on the 8th floor and both were great. Very spacious and clean with sunbeds on the balcony. The view is fantastic overlooking the beach and lovely to hear the sea so close. There are plenty of sunbeds and beach towels already in the room on arrival. Although we didn't make the welcome meeting there was a Thomson room where you could visit the rep and also a board outside giving information about various trips and flight information. The staff were very friendly and chatty and need to mention Juan-Arcadio the animacion manager who was lovely, always smiling and chatty and had remembered all our groups name after a couple of days, which was a nice touch when you saw him again. The daily activities were good and a nice way of meeting and talking to other guests. The food was good always found something I liked and staff very efficient at refilling and always clearing away. We would definitely recommend this hotel and are already looking at booking for next year.

Room Tip: all rooms have great view but would recommend a high floor.

We stayed at this hotel with two friends in late November and had a very relaxing time. Most of the staff were very friendly and helpful, especially Juan the Entertainments Manager. Our room, on the 7th floor, was very large and quiet with a fantastic view over the beach. The sunsets were amazing!
Sunbeds could be a bit further apart in places but that is a minor thing and at least there were enough to go round.
The food was very good with plenty of choice. The entertainment, on the whole, was very good too although a couple of the acts were not as good as the rest.

My only complaint during the holiday was the attitude of the manager following a serious accident that my husband had on our first day at the hotel. He slipped on the wet marble floor of the toilet next to the swimming pool and received a very nasty cut to the crown of his head requiring 13 stitches from a local doctor together with a trip to the hospital in San Agustin for neurological checks. The was no mat on the floor and no signs warning of the wet floor, unlike other areas of the hotel where the floor could become wet. I cannot fault the help we received from Juan, Massimo and the Thomson Reps. Considering the seriousness of the accident we assumed the manager of the hotel would contact us to check up on the patient but we eventually had to request a meeting with him as we felt he should be made aware of what had happened, particularly as it was due to a lack of care by the hotel. He told us that he had been at the hotel for 14 years and never had a similar accident; in fact he said that he hadn't even been aware of the toilet in which the accident occurred. However, following our talk with him, a rubber mat appeared at the base of the steps into the toilet area! Several of the general staff made every effort to regularly check up on my husband's recovery but not the overall manager.
However, despite all of this, we would certainly return to this hotel again as it is in a quiet location with a nearby beach where it is safe to swim.

Room Tip: Like other reviews I would agree that the higher floors are the better ones with the numbers around...

We booked this hotel as it was an adult only hotel and advertised as 4 star with good reviews on here. it was quiet and accommodating for the relaxing week we wanted but more like a 3 not 4 star overall. On arrival we were greeted with a glass of cava and given our room. Unfortunately it was on the 1st floor and looking out of the glass doors, was a view of the pool and all of the other guests sunbathing, so you didn't have anywhere to escape to in private. Having been disappointed by this we returned to reception and asked for another room, one with a balcony as we requested when we booked. The staff swapped us rooms with someone who hadn't turned up on time, although didn't appear to really want to. Having been grateful for the other room, it was a lot better. On the 4th floor tucked in the corner looking out to sea with an amazing view and balcony to retreat to.

The room itself didn't meet my expectations, the cleanliness couldn't be faulted, it was very clean. But the rooms were dated and tired looking. There was a litre of water on arrival but this was not replaced as I would have expected in the week, so we had to keep refilling ourself at the restaurant. The bed was 2 singles pushed together to look like a double, for an advertised 'couples' only hotel this was a disappointment and something I feel the hotel has skimped on. The beds were okay, have seen better days and need to be replaced in the room we were in as creaked all of the time when you moved.

The restaurant was well laid out, there was lots to eat and you didn't have to wait for food very long that was being cooked fresh. My husband ate really well being a meat eater and could choose anything from the vast selection of food. However me being vegetarian the food became very samey, which I did expect. However the restaurant advertised a vegetarian of excellence certificate outside which didn't really match what was on offer. There was rarely a main meal vegetarian choice so you had to make up plate of food from what they had scattered around. Saying that I didn't go hungry, just ate a lot of cheese and salad for the week. Also the same food was offered for lunch and the hotel sadly seemed to put a lot fish or meat in with the prepared mixed salads.

The evening entertainment was good, the piano bar especially where there was live music every night. The bar staff were very efficient and the atmosphere welcoming. Outside of the hotel there is a small resort with a local shop and a bar. There is also a mini golf and bowling alley with arcades for a cloudy afternoon (not that there are many!)

There were plenty of sun beds around the pool and staff put more out when it got busy, so no one went without. The only downside is that they are all crammed in together and so you can't escape the smokers, who didn't regard anyone else around them. This was another plus for having a room above the1st floor with a balcony so you could use your own private beds away from the rest. The hotel should put designated sunbathing areas for smokers.

We travelled with Thompson and hired a car for 2 days, port of Mogan is well worth a visit. Lots of nice restaurants, cafés and shops to mooch around. The place is very pretty and not tacky like the town the other side of Taurito - porta Rico. The submarine trip was excellent and recommended, is well worth the money. If you don't have a car the number 1 bus goes from the resort, taking about 10 mins and is only 3 euros return each.

We had a relaxing week with plenty to do around the island if you like exploring, but the hotel doesn't quite match the brilliant reviews that's it's been given, unless your just there to eat and drink lots 24 / 7 without wanting the frills.

Room Tip: A room with number ending 1-9 will give you the best view, anything above the 3rd floor has a nice v...

We have just returned from a fortnight at this Hotel and can recommend it. The food was plentiful and varied, the drink was flowing and the entertainment good for Hotel style. The staff were helpful and pleasant. The bay at Taurito was quiet, so if looking for outside night life, forget it. The sand is grey but a lovely small bay. Water park if that is your thing, but you have to pay, currently 12 euro's a day. The local bus to Puerto Rico or Puerto Mogan is only 1.40 euro's. Will go back again.

Room Tip: Ask for higher floor, reception on level six and drink and food, plus pool on level one. Rooms we we...

Why husband and I wanted a quiet week away in the sun and this was perfect. Food good typical all inclusive repetitive stuff but you could always find something to eat. Cleanliness great staff polite and friendly if you were the same to them, so many guests were grumpy and didn't want to chat but then don't expect the staff to be wonderful back if this ism how you feel. Room great we upgraded and it's so worth it, bottle of wine with lunch and dinner instead of on tap local stuff, and premium brand drinks the rest of the day, I have never had so much Baileys on an all inclusive and my husband felt the same with Bombay gin it was great. Would I go back yes, great with no kids and as it was mainly retired couples no rushing to get towels in the morning or loud music playing into the small hours. Only bit I personally hated we were the sixth drop off which made the transfer an hour & a half instead of 40 mins, and hanging over cliff edge roads in a 34 sweater coach for me is terrifying I would book a cab next time to get there direct. I really do think Thomson should advise of this as the land is full of mountains where this hotel sit, which gives fab views but tight roads.

Stayed here in November. Hotel rooms were very large and very clean. Food excellent with lots of choice. Hotel is all inclusive so no need to carry cash around with you. Plenty of sunbeds available although as with most places like this, people were rushing out before breakfast to put towels on beds. Pools lovely and clean, one was heated although I preferred the deeper unheated pool for swimming in. Lots of activities and a good choice of entertainment if you want it. All the staff were very helpful and friendly. This is somewhere we will definitely return to.

Stayed at the Hotel from 11th - 18th November 2013 together with my wife, son and his fiance. The Hotel had everything we wanted. Very good food, nice rooms with a great view of the beach and sea, we stayed on the fifth floor. We upgraded which allowed us all the benefits mentioned on previous posts, however, I did not see anyone being treated differently and I must say that all the staff we came into contact with were fantastic, always smiling and working really hard to make our holiday so special.
We joined in most of the activities during the day and found the entertainment staff friendly and helpful.
The duo singing during the day and evening are very good. The entertainment in the evening was fine although we would usually sit outside talking or playing cards with the music in the background.
The transfers was good and the roads from the airport to Taurito seemed to be new making the journey quicker than the 50 minutes mentioned in the brochure.
Taurito is quiet but a taxi ride to Peurto Rico (Lively) is only 10 minutes and 14 Euros. Peurto Moogan (Picturesque port) less time and 7 Euros.
We have been to many Hotels but this does rank right up there as being one of the best we have ever been to.
I cannot understand how anyone cannot give this Hotel a low rating. We could not find any fault.
Speaking to most of the people we met they have been returning year after year, I can see why. We would certainly go back.

Room Tip: I would say all rooms overlook the sea but would say ask for floor 3 or above.
