“Brilliant all inclusive adults only hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 March 2011

Just back from 11 days of winter sun at this brilliant adults only, all inclusive hotel. We picked this hotel because of reviews we'd seen on Trip Advisor and we were so pleased we did.

All the rooms seemed to be junior suites and are very spacious. We were amazed at how many staff we saw cleaning and this was reflected in the high standard of cleanliness all around the hotel. The maid was efficent at cleaning our room and the towels in our room were changed most days. The hotel is built into the rockface which made it beautifully cool in the corridor areas whilst all the rooms have a sea view. The balconies are generous - plenty of space for sun beds and chairs/table (we could have paid extra to have 2 sunloungers on our balcony but we spent every day by the pool so we didn't take this option). There were plenty of lifts around the hotel and we saw one guest in a wheelchair - it seemed they'd be able to get around to most areas.

We spent all but one day by the hotel pool. Beach towels for using on the sun loungers are provided - you can change them in the hotel shop at a charge of 1.50 euros per towel (eco tax) but as there are towel rails on the balcony to hang them on to dry after use, we didn't need to change ours.

The activities were varied - I did aquarobics plus I had a go at Tai Chi. The hotel is adults only and whilst we love children, it was great not to have to listen to other people's children during our holiday (most people were around our age - we're early 50's/late 40's), plus the gentle music heard around the pool was soothing rather than loud and annoying.

Great choice of food and plenty of it - I tend to want lots of salads and fresh fruit when on holiday and my husband loves seafood - there was lots for us to choose from.

We heard a couple of people moan about the dark coloured sand on the beach. But seeing as the island was volcanic, it's to be expected that the sand is the same dark colour of the rock.

We definitely would go back to this hotel again.

We went to the hotel on feb 19th 2011 for a week. I was worried having read mixed reviews, but I need not have worried. The room was large with a 6' 6'' comfy bed, and we had a nice living area with a sofa and arm chair. The television had very limited english channels......but who goes on holiday to watch tele!!! The balcony was very large and you could sit there and watch beautiful sunsets. The food..... breakfast was brilliant, lots of choice, cereal, fresh fruit, nuts, yogurts, cheeses, cold meats, breads, omlettes, eggs, bacon, sausages, pancakes etc etc. lunch was in the Tapas bar .......salads, fresh fish, calamari, paella, pasta, burgers, hotdogs, sandwiches, icecream, selection of cold desserts etc. Evening meal.......similar choice to lunch bu tmore hot choices of meat and fish, but I must be honest that some nights it was a little disappointing. They also serve tea and cakes in Tapas bar between 4.00 and 6.00 pm You would have to be VERY VERY FUSSY not to find something to eat!!! Drinks...... We did not upgrade to "Blackband" and we and the other 3 couples we teamed up with were happy enough with the drinks, White, red and rose wine, plus cava were on tap and very drinkable, beer was on tap as were soft drinks, and tea and coffee. Fruit juice were typical spanish hotel standard! In addition to this among our group gin, brandy, baileys and vermouth were drunk wiyhout complaint!!! There was a good atmosphere in piano bar with people up dancing. The showbar was hit and miss but would recomend The Drifters. The resort is very quiet with very few shops, but if thats what you want go into porto Morgan....... it is a very pretty place to visit and is only a few minutes away either on the hotel bus, public bus or taxi. The roads make it impossble to walk to which is a shame as you can see it from the hotel....so near but so far. A ferry to and from the resort would be great! So if you have booked, don't worry just enjoy

We found all aspects of the hotel well to our liking. We could eat from 7am until 11am with a wide variety of food well cooked. Our room was large, the bed 8ft wide and a large balcony gave privacy and an excellent view. Apparently 95% of visitors never leave the coast to see the magnificent inland mountain scenery..,.which is hard to understand.

Answer - When it is a narrow bedroom packed with furniture to try and make out that it is a Suite! Yes - that was what we had.
We spent 2 weeks including Christmas 2010 at the Suite Princess. We had so looked forward to enjoying a proper Suite, with designated sleeping area separated from the living/sitting area just like all the pictures and brochures and on the internet showed. What we got was a narrow bedroom with twin beds, sofa, that was only a few inches from the bed head, easy chair, one side table with lamp, low coffee table, sideboard/dressing table with television on, and trunk/box to accommodate suitecases on top plus an ensuite bathroom. and a balcony. The hotel kept assuring us that it was a Junior Suite but by the end of the first week we had ascertained that all the other guests that we spoke to had proper Suites, just as we had expected. By the time the Thomson rep had inspected our "room" in the second week he conceded that it was like no Suite that he had seen!! but by then we felt that it was too late to throw a tantrum and ask for a move so we stuck with it. So beware fellow travellers, when you book a Junior Suite, that is what you should expect - a designated sleeping area with a large bed and window together with a separate living/sitting area with patio doors onto a balcony.
The above was the down side. We were very happy with the rest of the hotel. The food in the main dining room was excellent, plenty of fresh fish like soles, giant prawns, both cold in their shells and freshly cooked, mussels, and a variety of freshly cooked meats at the show cooking area and casseroles of meat or fish etc on the buffet. The cooked vegetables and salads were all extremely good and the fresh fruit and puddings were excellent. We also thoroughly enjoyed the fresh fruit salad at breakfast together with all the cooked and healthy eating items.
I was a little disappointed by the lunches in the outside La Choza bar/restaurant - burgers and hot dogs every day - not what one would expect at an Adults Only hotel but no doubt a throw back from the days when they catered for children. Having said that, there were always a couple of other hot meat dishes to choose from and the salad bar was excellent - it was just those daily burgers and bangers that got me! but there are lots of healthy eating options instead.
The ice creams in La Choza were really nice quality and were available from midday until around 6pm.
I'm a white wine drinker and found the white on tap perfectly palatable with meals and the cava was fine too. The coffee, despite coming from a machine was excellent. I particularly liked the Cafe Cortado in the Sports bar - 3 shots just filled a cup and was strong and tasty.
I have seen comments regarding the bar staff being offhand and unfriendly. We did not find them like that - they were efficient and polite, not matey matey with the customers but proffessional.
All in all it was a very good holiday with the exception of the room. Since our return we have complained to Thomson about this and they have eventually given us a Voucher for £100 against any future holiday with them.
Taurito is not a place to go if you want a ra ra holiday - if that's the case stick with Playa del Ingles. But if you want to get away from it all, it's excellent. There is a very good bus service just up on the main road which will take you anywhere along the coast and the hotel provides a free bus daily into Puerto Mogan at around 10.30 and a return around 1 pm. That is well worth a visit as it is so pretty.
We would certainly return to this hotel but would stick to our guns regarding the accommodation - no being fobbed off next time!!
We have spent several Christmases at the sister hotel The Taurito Princess just across the valley and chose the Suite Princess because of its Adults Only policy. It was really quiet and peacefull without other people's little darlings screaming around the pool and making everyone's life a misery in the dining room!
In years past we have spent many a Christmas morning on the beach but sadly this year there were some very bad storms in late December which brought up large boulders and altered the beach completely from how we remember it. Hopefully it can be returned to its former pleasant sandy cove.
We would recommend this hotel but do stand your ground if you feel that your accommodation is not what you expected.

I just returned from the Suite Princess. I had a lovely holiday in the sun with my mother and we were both very happy with the hotel, the service and the other guests. Yes, Taurito is a very quiet place and there are no children allowed at the hotel - which makes the hotel and the pool area nice and peaceful. However, the entertainment was lively (especially the Drifters) and the Piano bar was full every night with dancing couples. I liked the gym, modern and clean with a lovely view, and the well-working wi-fi (however not free, I payed 29€ for the week). Don't forget to book a table for the 5 course Romantic dinner (free but limited seats) and to book tickets to the free hotel bus to Puerto de Mogán two days ahead. We did not upgrade to the black band but still got a newly renovated room at the top floor, free water in the mini bar, a kettle and lots of toiletries (including toothbrush and toothpaste, comb, shaving kit, shoe horn amongst others). There are lots of sunbeds, so even if you don't reserve one in the morning, you will find one, even when the hotel is fully booked, as it was now. The pool towels are free and you can change them in the hotel shop for 1,5€. We are very happy with our stay, met nice people, got good value for our money and would certainely return!

we were really disappointed with our recent stay at this hotel. Definitely would not class it as high a rating as it is, much more like a 3T. First night found a really huge cockroach in my bed, yuk! Next day went to pool, most of the sun beds had been reserved, although it states you are not allowed to do that, the sun beds were far too close together for comfort so we paid to have sun beds put on our balcony, at least that way we could guarantee a seat!!! We are early risers always down for breakfast at 8 am when restaurant opened but food was barely warm. Restaurant was more like a canteen really noisy. Waiters cleared plates away before both people had finished eating and I don't think they like washing up as all you could hear was the smashing of plates. Cocktail drinks were a joke, out of a vending machine and really horrible. The food in the evening was alo barely warm and if you liked chips you were okay, a lot of the meat was not very well cooked, very rare. Staff not particularly friendly or helpful. Visited Mogan a nearby village which was nice and went on a submarine which was actually good fun. Did have a meal out in Mogan which was lovely and the only hot meal we had in a week oh the plane food was hot. We had a helicopter trip which was really good. Certainly would not go back to this hotel and woulnt recommend it. The beach wa terrible, not at all like brochure pictures as sand was black which didn't worry us but it was so stoney and rocky you couldnt get near the sea.

just got back from our holiday at this hotel ,it is like what the other reviews have said mainly, very big rooms I found the beds uncomfortable but that is just me i like a soft bed
eveywhere in the hotel is very clean ,the food to start with is enjoyble but to the end of the week it becomes very samey .I hotel was a mixture of young and old think it depends when you go me personaly I wouldnt go in high season you will be queing a lot for meals ,drinks ect the pool area is pleasent lots of sun beds despite people putting their towels on them first thing in the moring .entertaintment is watchable I enjoyed the flemenco ,and a group called the word .if you want to get out of the hotel about 300 yards down the roads you can get a local bus to puerto morgan which costs 2.60 euros , on the opposite side you can go to puerto rieco . if you want a quite location nice hotel this is nice for a week after that it would get boring .
