“1 Relaxing week on Bali (Padang Bai)”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 January 2014

After an exhausting but very interesting divetrip to Komodo/Flores, me and my friends (5 pax: 2 female, 3 male) took the decision to spend 1 more week for diving, relaxing and sightseeing on Bali and decided to stay @ Padadang Bai. In "Padang Bai Beach Resort".
My "overall" rating: A very good resort to stay! Friendly people, good service. Reasonable prices.
More detail following now and here:
Airport transfer (PickUp was included in our package, RoundTrip: 10 USD):
Arrival: As I/we forgot to inform the resort, that 1. our flight number was changed by Lion Air and 2. our flight was delayed (2,5H), the driver had to wait for us 1/2Day @ Denpasar Airport. Still friendly, helpful! Not annoyed at all.
Departure: Comfortable transport to the airport w/ sufficient time left to find the CheckIn desk, etc.
Resort: Nice, friendly & service oriented staff and management welcoming us. CheckIn (Accomodation/Diving) was done within a few minutes. Short Briefing (Resort/Diving/Surrounding) as well. After 15-30min I was already having a refreshing bath in the pool, enjoying a cold draft beer at Buddha Bar (...still laying in the pool... :) ). My room (booked a 2-bed Room for 1 person) was located on ground floor. Clean, big, nicely furnitured, stony tiled floor. TV, MiniBar, AirCon, Safe, towels, water and tea facility on the room.
Clean, tiled bathroom with shower. C/W water (soap, shower gel, moisturizer).
--- Enhanced comfort! Room was cleaned daily.
Our ladies had a room on 1st floor. Nice view above the neighborhood. But as the room has a tin-roof, it what was quite noisy at nightime when it was raining...
Restaurant/Buddha Bar: Nice, friendly & service oriented staff. I normally had breakfast only (fresh baked roles and bread, several kinds of eggs, warm local food as well), Coffee, tea, fresh juice.
--- Good quality.
2 friends of mine had also dinner every night. Both were always convinced about quality, taste and quantity.
Only negative point: Restaurant, Bar and MiniBar has to be payed on a separate bill. CreditCard was not accepted!
Diving: Dive Shop (Absolute Scuba Diving) is integrated in the resort. Padang Bai has lots of really beautiful dive sites (7 divesites in 5-10 min distance, some more nearby). Nusa Penida (by speed boat) and Tulamben/USS Liberty (by car) was done as a (1/2-1)daytrip.
Our dive master was very experienced, taking care for the group, did a good briefing and knew how to find the special & rare sea creatures... :) The second dive guide's experience shows room for improvement (we missed some special things @ Tulamben unfortunately -- but this is a reason to return... :) ). Service on the dive boat was good. Towels, water, coffee, tea on board. A bit more room (to move, take on the gear, etc.) would have been appreciated, but it was ok finally. Rental gear didn't give best impression to me.
Sightseeing: We booked a car w/ driver for reasonably price and did 2 full day trips visiting a number of beautiful locations (still a big number left to be vistited). Picked up and dropped at the resort. We discussed the daily route with the driver and he was felxible to accept short termed changes "on the fly".
Padang Bai-Surrounding: Nice small village/city with a good infrastructure level. Not too noisy. Enough restaurants and bars over the place. Food(etc)-market twice a week (walkable distance from the resort).

I will return to Bali in Sept 2014 and will most probably choose Padang Bai Beach Resort again.

Decided to spend two days between Flores and the Gilis in this place and we wer glad we did. Our superior room (nr 15) was facing the pool and had a nice balcony, good shower, aircon, a comfy bed and a fridge. It was small but big enough, and nicely decorated. We had a few issues with the loo, but within five minutes of reporting this to reception, someone came up and fixed it.

My boyfriend did a two dives at the diving school onsite, and thought they were good value. I booked a massage in the nice spa, also good.

After five days on Flores, where brekkie had been purely functional, this place was great. Homemade bread rolls, fresh fruit juice and fruit, and good eggs/pancake station.

Only drawback: no wifi signal in our room, however it did work on the balcony.

Stayed 2 weeks at the resort. The resort is a perfect dive resort, with familiarly atmosphere and an outstanding friendly staff who always tried to make the stay as pleasant as possible. Diving activities are perfect organized (thanks again to Giovanni, Alena, Indra, Eka and the rest of the staff). Good breakfast (buffet with fresh croissants, fruits, etc.), for dinner you are even ask for special requests (simply ask Frida, manager of the Buddha restaurant what you want to eat). Rooms are large and cleaned daily. Highly recommended for SCUBA divers who want to explore the dive sites all interesting dive sites in Bali, as the resort organize dive trips not only in Padang Bay, but also to other dive sites in Bali (wrack “MSS Liberty” in Tulamben, Nusa Penida, etc.) A perfect stay for SCUBA diving!

If you need a bare bones hotel for a quick one night stay before catching an onward ferry, this is your place. Room was old, but clean. Bed was comfortable and AC worked very well. There was a small balcony in my room which overlooked the pool and breakfast area. I just don't think the phrase "beach resort" should be used as it it misleading. There hotel is not on the beach but actually off a dirt road next to the shore line. It is also down the street from the harbour where the ferries depart There is a small pool at the front of the hotel right next to the street that looked more like a diving practice pool than a swimming pool. There is a covered hut outside where breakfast is served: basic but Included eggs, juice, breads, fruit and other Indonesia specialities. There are many flies in the area so I suggest the owner covers the hut with screening to make guests feel more comfortable. Wifi was available in the breakfast area only.

Nice bungalow with fan, aircon and moscito net (which we did not have to use). Breakfast was pretty good as well, with a variety of pastry, eggs/ pancake made to order, fresh juices.
The whole resort is well maintained with a small pool, nice park-like arrangement in between main building and the bungalows, a small bar and the restaurant area.

Just be aware that the at night star-lit outdoor bathroom becomes sun-blasted (!) in the mornings! So slap on the sun-screen before brushing your teeth ;-)

i stayed three nights and had a very pleasant time: attractive room with a balcony overlooking the koi pond and small temple; a very good and complete breakfast included. the staff were friendly and i quickly found a nice guy to take me snorkeling and his brother to drive me on a little sightseeing trip the traditional village of Tenganan. the snorkeling was good and i found the small town a more pleasant experience than busy Ubud. easy, relaxing, attractive all around.

Room Tip: i'd suggest one on the second floor with a balcony.

Had a brief stopover and was impressed with the location -across the road from the beach, as well as the lovely rooms. Small but lovely little resort with a cute infinity pool. Rooms are Bali-like and beautifully decorated and very clean. Buddha Bar & restaurant attached appear to be new as staff are still learning. Meals only average.

Room Tip: ground level rooms are very handy;
