This place, in the southeast edge of the Alpujarran Mountains, was recommended through several major guidebooks and, overall, we agree it's worth a visit. We stayed for one night at the end of October in this very peaceful property. The multiple buildings are on the side of a steep mountain so steps lead from the parking area down to our rooms then down to the pool, etc. Our little patio had a table and chairs and a stunning view of olive tree-tropped hills. My boyfriend took a very cold dip in the pool, but not before he had to skim it of bugs himself with a skimmer we found nearby (the water filtration/circulation was running, though). The poolside view was very cloudy yet incredible. Dinner there was ok, your average Spanish food and they took a long time to seat us, take our order, and serve the meal. Slight confusion about where to check in and park (due to multiple buildings).

Room was rustic, with an Andalusian tile headboard and a gravity-defying slate ceiling supported by timber beams. One problem we had was that the shower curtain was six inches above the floor so the water flooded the sink and shower area and slowly leaked onto the bedroom floor(bathroom alcove was a step higher and the entire floor was tiled, and it leached into the edge of the small bedside rug before it drained out the front door). We couldn't be bothered to switch rooms or complain about this as we were staying just one night. The separate toilet room was not affected. Heating in the room is non-existent with no extra covers provided, and it is quite chilly in the mountains in late October. Alas, that's Spanish amenties for you,

Because of all these hiccups, we probably wouldn't stay there again UNLESS it's during the summer, the shower curtain was lowered, and the sky cleared up to show a more glorious view.

We had headed through Almeria to San Jose, which was a totally horrible resort where we had the worst meal imaginable. Don't trust the rough guide! We swiftly surfed the net for a hideaway in the country to escape to (it was our honeymoon!). This place was so perfect, shabby chic and the resturant was incredible, we finally found real spainish food, all organic and amazing. You must try the migas. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the pool was beautiful overlooking the hills. Our room was rustic, spotless, and secluded and we really recovered from the Almeria nightmare in style!

Lovely hidden treasure which was unforgettable!
