“A dream of a place”
Reviewed 22 November 2013

I stayed on the bottom floor. Even though it did not have windows it was very quiet. The traffic noise settles down around 11:00pm.
The rooms are a nice size and the bathrooms are good. The showers are excellent as there is very good pressure and water for showering.

The breakfast is excellent. If you are lucky some of his tomatoes from home. I highly recommend having this with the pane and olive oil. You are also given a lovely choice of pastries, yogurt, juice and coffee.

As you enter the main gates and drive up an olive tree lined track you know that something special is awaiting you and the Hacienda certainly was special! A beautiful house surrounded on all sides by fields of cotton, corn and olive trees. The room we stayed in was just off the main courtyard - cavernous room and comfortable bed! huge bathroom with a shower and bath. Breakfast is served outside your room door on a small terrace and you can emerge refreshed at pretty much anytime up to 11. the staff are very attentive and friendly and nothing is too much to ask. they will help plan your trip to Andalucia - we went horseriding at a local riding school (both pretty much beginners) we spent 2 hours on the most beautiful horses walking and trotting through the owners own olive plantation. I also booked a massage which was probably the most wonderful massage I have ever had! There are no nearby (nearest 30 min) local villages or towns to go and eat so the hotel recommends you stay there for dinner - food was very nicely presented and cooked and a beautiful setting outside. the only slight (and hence the reason for only a very good rating) was the price which seemed pretty steep at E55 per person even though it does include wine but no option to choose your own taste there is only a red wine menu. Also the bar near to the restaurant was not manned and would have we are sure been visited by everyone after dinner if it had been - that said we had a truly fantastic time there and will certainly visit again.

Spent night there as part of honeymoon. Quality without any pretence.

Incredibly helpful in planning our stay there and beyond in seville. Booked us an excellent restaurant in seville and helped us with travel arrangements afterwards.

Horse riding at Los Camachos not to be missed.

Highly recommended.

Stayed 4 days with my family in a casita - great stay, lovely service and a very ideal location.
I have been travelling in Spain many years, but have not excperienced such beautyfull surroundings before. The food and service was superb and an experience with only few similar in Spain.

A gem! Our 4 days there were perfect in every way ... great food, fantastic staff, stunning views (loved the cotton fields), a very comprehensive activity list if you want to be busy, lovely pool if you don't. Attention to detail excellent. A truly magical place. Somewhere that we will definitely go back to!

If you're looking for an isolated, rural retreat, surrounded by cotton fields at the end of a dirt track off a main road 32 kilometres from Seville, you'll love the Hacienda San Rafael. The magic of this special hotel has been created by the planting of lovely gardens and the construction of beautiful courtyards. There are two well maintained swimming pools with loungers and thatched sun shades and you can always find a comfy sofa for a snooze or a drink in one of the leafy, relaxation areas scattered around the garden. The food is of a very high standard, although there is an irritating policy of charging extra for just about everything beyond the basic breakfast despite the top quartile room rate for this exclusive hotel. Dinner is a fixed menu of three courses including wine. At 55 euros per head it is not really great value but the standard of cuisine is generally good enough to leave you feeling satisfied and sufficiently inebriated at the end of the evening to forget the expense as you sink into the comfortable beds and downy pillows. The rooms have high ceilings and air conditioning and feel pleasantly rustic. The bathrooms are well appointed with strong showers and plenty of fresh air. The downside? - well there is clearly a year-round battle against flies, especially around the pools and the service, whilst being delivered by charming and friendly people, can be rather slow and forgetful at times. You need a sense of humour and a willingness to go with the flow if you are to retain the stress releasing benefits of this haven of peace and tranquility in rural Andalucia.
