“Highly atmospheric, small but beautiful historic site”

San Millan Suso Monastery

There isn't much left to see in Suso, but what there is - cave-chapels carved into the side of the mountain, beautiful mozarabic arches - is worth it. Once again, the tour is only in Spanish, and you MUST go via the tourist office in San Millan, and travel up the hill to the monastery in the mini-bus, or you will be turned away, but I found it a moving and evocative experience, worth the effort.
