“Nice”
Reviewed 10 August 2014

We live local in So Fl and try to "get away" as much as possible, been to many hotels in the area and this place was a great find. Spur of the moment decision to stay on a Friday night, requested early check in - no problem, requested ocean view - no problem, requested late check out - again no problem, basically spent 2 full days. The room was outstanding and had every amenity imaginable. Dinner at the restaurant was great, the "market" had all needed for a morning balcony breakfast. The pools and beach were fantastic. Absolutely want to spend more time here!!!

Room Tip: We were on the 7th floor - 1 bedroom (more like a suite) Ocean front view (overlooking pool) Room ha...

I have been here both for just a spa day (several times) and also for a weekend get-away. I love this place! Clean, inviting, beautiful, friendly, and close to home for us! The spa is FANTASTIC! The massages are wonderful and the aromatherapy is heavenly! The spa facilities are lovely and clean, and the staff is excellent! I recommend taking some time between treatments and hanging out at the pool side restaurant!

Room Tip: Ask for water view!

This is a very nice hotel, the staff is very friendly and polite. The beach is very nice, with a small reef within swimming distance. Just before sundown we were able to walk a few feet in the ocean and get to the reef. We were able to walk around it and see some small fish and take some great pictures. The beach sand is very soft and the kids had a great time picking up sea shells, lot of them around, but did not bother you when walking on the beach. Rented a beach umbrella for $10 and had a great time at the beach. The pools (2 of them) are a bit small considering the number of rooms, but the kids had a great time at the pool slide.
The room was very nice and a lot larger than we expected. We had one bedroom with a King size bed, oversized bathroom, living room with queen sofabed, full kitchen, washer & drier and half bath. Overall the hotel is very new and well maintained. Valet parking is $20 but service was not as slow as expected from reading other reviews. There are a couple of nice local restaurants in the area. Within walking distance (1mile) is Johnny Longboats, nice casual food at fair prices. Two Drunken Goats restaurant is in the same plaza, did not try the food but people eating there seemed to be enjoying drinks and live music. Just a 5-10 minute drive from the hotel is the Tiki Waterfront Sea Grill, nice casual restaurant overlooking the marina.
Overall we had a great time, we enjoyed the beach, the pools and were able to have some nice family time and rest at our room. Just as a heads up, it seems that most of the real ocean view rooms are privately owned, so do not expect great views unless you rent from an owner. We will definately be going back to the Marriott Singer Island Beach Resort & Spa.

A nice hotel with very nice rooms. Unfortunately, all that was in the rental pool were two bedrooms. Hence the price being on the higher side.

A solid well designed commodity hotel but not special. For the same price almost we could have been at the Breakers. Perhaps next time.

Singer Island is gorgeous.

This visit was our second trip to singer island marriott. Both times in the summer with children. It is a great place for families because of the two bedrooms, kitchen and washing machine. The hotel is close to a publix supermarket and whole foods. It is near the Gardens Mall with pfchangs and other foods even McDonalds for the kids. Also it is near loggerhead marinelife center .... a fabulous place to learn about sea turtles. The beach is great with lots of fish and reef/rocks to explore. We visited the kids club which provided entertainment for kids during those rainy moments. Also they had movies and games to borrow in your room. We didn't have a car so we arranged with the concierge to rent a car from the hotel for the day which was a pleasant experience. I tried out the spa which was a nice experience. Of course the pools are nice. My family enjoys the quieter infinity pool the best.

The only thing I noted this trip was the beach was quite messy with garbage...cups, towels,etc..the beach was not cleaned up. Perhaps that is from visitors not throwing away their personal trash or perhaps the staff did not clean the beach very often.

Overall it is a great place for large groups and families. The people who work at the hotel are kind and smile. Every encounter we had with staff were very pleasant.

This hotel is a gem and I look forward to going back again soon.

This was a gold mine!!! You have beach access with a coral reef. The pool has a slide that will amaze the kids. Go to the beach in the AM/lunch time, and then to the pool in the afternoon. Better yet…find the low tide and go to the beach so that you can walk out to the coral reef.

Yes, this place is $$$$$$. Finding a place for dinner is challenging - you will need to go inland.

However, this is paradise!

This is an absolutely gorgeous facility, and we were "wowed" when we arrived by the obvious upscale nature of this resort hotel. However, after a four night stay with my wife and daughter, we were left with mixed feelings about the hotel, as follows:

Pros
--Gorgeous modern facility
--Very clean all around (rooms and common areas)
--Friendly, helpful staff
--Beautiful beach (love the coral reef) and beach access is relatively easy
--Sunday brunch buffet was terrific and food at the hotel was generally decent to good (but overpriced)
--Beautiful well-appointed suites with new(ish) appliances, including en suite washer/dryer (love this!).

Cons
--Poor design of rooms and furnishings. A few examples: Bed frame provided no space underneath so frequent painful toe-stubbing whenever you're doing something near the bed (we learned to avoid this halfway through our stay by placing pillows on the floor around the bed frame for cushioning and to remind us to be careful); space between shower doors and door frame tile allows for shocking amount of water all over bathroom floor; sliding doors throughout suite that are a pain to deal with (e.g., the one separating our bedroom from the living room would not stay closed without wedging a washcloth underneath it).
--Valet parking only. The hotel charges $25/day to park a car, which seems excessive, especially on top of the already-pricey room rates. On top of that, we were told parking on the property is valet only, which creates an unneccesary and annoying process whenever one wants to run out even for a quick errand (and of course one feels compelled to tip the valets on top of the $25/day parking fee you're already paying).
--General feeling of being "nickeled and dimed" to death. When one is paying upwards of $250/night for a hotel room (and significantly more than that for "better" suites in-season) it gets annoying to feel like you're constantly being forced to reach into your pocket for every little thing. While I've stayed at many nice hotels over the years and don't expect much to be included (always happy to pay for a spa treatment!), I did find some of the charges to be over-the-top. For example, a $30/day (or $10/hour) "rental fee" for the use of two beach chairs is excessive in my book. The primary reason guests pay as much as we do for a "beach hotel" is easy access to the hotel's beach, so the effort to extract even more money from hotel guests for them to use and enjoy the very beach they're paying so much for leaves a very bad taste in this guest's mouth.
--Excessive food prices. Similar to above concern but worthy of separate mention. While most of the food we had was at least decent, the prices were not reasonable. The room service menu resulted in some sticker shock for us. For example, a bacon cheeseburger (predictably one of the least expensive items) costs $18, PLUS the 20 percent "service fee" and $2 "delivery fee" (so about $24 for a burger!). One night we just didn't want to go out so we splurged for burgers and there wasn't even anything special about them. Just plain old burgers (and they were overcooked as well).
--Terrible, unreliable pay-per-view service. We tried to purchase two pay-per-view movies during our stay and we were unable to complete watching either one of them. In addition to the system constantly failing and the hotel being unable to remedy the problem (despite 45 minutes in our room at dinner time one night), the "Lodgenet" system even when working properly simply stinks. It does not offer the ability to simply pause, rewind and fast forward, and while it advertises that your purchase is good for 24 hours, you find out later that it still only allows you watch the film through to the end once within that 24 hours. And while the hotel took the charges off our bill because we were unable to watch either film we ordered, that did not remedy the problem for our 6-year old who had her hopes to watch two movies dashed when the system would not function properly. We should and do expect more than this from an "upscale" resort.

Ultimate conclusion: The hotel is very nice and its overall design and upkeep will appeal to a certain level of hotel consumer, but in this guest's opinion the hotel fails to live up to its promise and could be a much better experience with some attention to the above issues. While our stay was generally "fine," it is unlikely that we would pay the premium required to stay here again.

Room Tip: High floors offer better ocean views, and the elevators are lightning fast, so request a high floor.

Dear Daniel,
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. You had mentioned that you had issues with the pay per view service on the TV's as well as some of the charges for use of beach chairs, valet parking etc. I have shared your concerns about the pay per view services with our maintenance team for their follow through to ensure that this does not happen in the future. We hope to serve you and your family in the future. If i may be of any further assistance please do not hesitate to contact me.
