“Great Breakfast, Great Staff”
Reviewed 30 June 2014

Amazing breakfast, great location, very hospitable and friendly staff. Rooms neat and clean. Lots of old world feel, which comes with very creaky stairs, floors and LOW ceilings. Restaurant downstairs filled with locals (more upscale dining). Across the street, behind the other, affiliated hotel, is a great picture point on the lake with beautiful swans. NOT much to do in this area of Switzerland. More of just a great place to stop on the way to somewhere else. Medieval axes, swords in lobby and something about the owner being a prince. Somewhat of a museum. He's onsite often. Nice, quiet older man.

Room Tip: Smile and be nice. Small hotel so not much to choose from.

The hotel looks exactly as it does on pictures, so it was exactly as expected. Front desk staff were friendly and helpful. Room was clean, bathroom tiny. The location on the lake and the views are priceless. I would come back just to have an opportunity to spend some more time in the private gardens of the hotel. View is absolutely breathtaking !!! The restaurant is also very charming. I prefer the inside of the restaurant to the outside area. Although prices were a tad high (over 110 Swiss francs for fondue and a bottle of house wine), service was excellent and setting- adorable. Breakfast was somewhat limited, but very good with excellent coffee. Free parking and free breakfast made the stay a better value. I loved the experience. I took one " star" away for lack of amenities for the price, no AC (which would have been fine if windows had screens to keep the bugs out) and the fact that the pool was not available for use as it was booked for a private "honeymoon " function ;). I believe that if you market hotel as having a pool- it should be available to all and at all times. Although to be perfectly honest, not sure I would want to use it after learning that it gets rented out for "private" functions.

Room Tip: Rooms in the main chalet building facing the lake have incredible views. Do take time to sit by the...

I have stayed here for 4 nights. To swiss chalet hotel. The lower price hotel. And i felt like into 1900 due to the rooms there had the impression nothing has changed. The staff was helpful but...not to shave off the impression that they had to keep this open because the upper class is almost all t he time fully booked. Yet the owners i do believe have all the hospitality business here...as they advertise all the hotels available into this village.
The hotel itself is nice but yet for the money is a little high. Like everywhere in Switzerland. The room had a very low ceiling 4 single beds ( we booked a double room with king size bed) the windows could not keep the noise out...the floor was making a hell lot of noise...common but decent breakfast....

We enjoyed our stay very much - we really felt like sleeping in a castle. The location is just great with the lake so close and train "station" was reachable in just a couple of minutes. The staff was very helpful and we enjoyed the breakfast. I sure would stay here again, as it was great value!

As others have stated, there are a variety of buildings here. We stayed in the old rustic one above the restaurant. The rooms had bright red checked bedding, and plants right out the windows. The shape the room was odd, with sloped low ceilings, but that just added to the charm. The food was incredible. Expensive, but extremely well done, and honestly our best Swiss meal. The wine selection was very good as well. Across the street, you have access to gardens right on the water, and even a paddle boat. My seven year old son loved that! Going out on lake luzern in a paddle boat was quite an experience, as the views here are beautiful, and you can paddle by some really nice estates. There was an indoor pool, kind of small, but hey..a pool nonetheless. We stayed at a number of places in Switzerland, and this one was define ly good value for the lodgings, also very convenient to luzern.

Room Tip: Old building with restaurant has a quirky rustic charm!

A group of us stayed a night at this gorgeous hotel. We were all completely blown away. The amazing staff served us a fantastic 5-course meal - best food we tried in Switzerland so far. the location is gorgeous, right at the lakefront. Rooms were cosy. Spa and pool area were small and in another building but non the less enjoyable. And just so that I've mentioned it once again : super helpful service staff!!

Room Tip: Seeing as it's an old house the floors are pretty creaky to sensitive ears - should that be the...

The surrounding location is lovely and the position of the hotel offers the possibility to travel around the lake and reaching Lucern (10mins by car), and taking a walk around the beautiful villages (Küssnacht and Merlinschachen).
The hotel has an amazing old style atmosphere and the rooms are very suggestive.
Swimming pool and sauna are clean and cozy, as the breakfast room.
The staff is cordial and very attentive to customers' needs.
