Le Relais du Ried Hotel - Restaurant et Spa
Ranked #1 of 1 Hotels in Bischwihr

Reviewed 25 July 2014

We stayed at this hotel for two nights in July. The owner and staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The breakfast was typically European, breads, cheeses and cured meats, it was delicious and good value. We ate at the restaurant both nights, the food was fantastic, very French. The wine reccomendations first class. We had a family room which was a little snug but very clean and comfortable with good beds. The only improvement would bea lift (elevator) othewise highly reccomended when visiting the Alasce region.

There was no one at the reception when we arrived, but there was a sign in English and French as to when the receptionist would return. This foresight was evidence of attention to guests. When we returned in the evening, the hotel's restaurant was very busy, but the manager took the time to provide check-in services and to answer our questions. The hotel room was very clean and more than adequate. The quality of the bedding was superior to what many similar hotels offer. When we arrived for breakfast, the manager suggested that we take it in the garden area. The garden is beautiful and certainly worth a visit. The breakfast buffet is varied and of excellent quality. Even though the hotel is located on the main street in Bischwihr, the hotel is recessed and is very quiet and peaceful. All in all, this hotel is a great value and an excellent base for exploring Colmar. Colmar is less than a 10 minute drive away. On another note, my grandson had forgotten his telephone in a hotel room. When he realized that it was missing, I backtracked, and wrote emails to all of the hotels where we stayed during our 2 week vacation across Europe. This hotel answered promptly, whereas some did not even bother to reply, and informed us that they in fact had found the telephone. Our email correspondence to recover the telephone was very efficient, friendly, and helped to facilitate the process. We managed to provide shipping services for the telephone, and the management packaged the telephone excellently. We received the telephone promptly, and my grandson is very happy to have recovered it. The assistance provided by the hotel management was invaluable. We really appreciate the level of service provided!

Room Tip: Ask for blinds to be closed and windows opened before arriving so as to have a cooler room.

We booked here on our way back home from Italy. We arrived in the evening so we decided to eat here, and go to Colmar the day after (it is only a 10-15minutes drive to Colmar). We had a warm welcome from the owner. We had a room with view on the garden. It was basic, but everyting was there we needed (tv, shampoo, hair dryer, soap....). The bathroom was large. Our diner was excellent and the restaurant was quite busy. Breakfast is also good. There is a good choice and variety. Compared with other French hotels, this breakfast is wonderful.

we have spent 4 nights in this hotel. We managed to get a room with sufficient space and large beds which is not obvious, so you have to ask for it. The restaurant is good for breakfast, lunch and dinner. If tthe weather allows you may enjoy your glass)es of Alsacian wine in the spacious garden. Located only 5 minutes from Colmar. Reception is closed between 12 and 16 hrs which is the only detail that did not please us (arriving at 14 hrs...)

We stayed here for a night in February 2013 on route to Switzerland. It is about 5 km from Colmar and is easy to find using Satnav. The parking is a bit tight, but there is loads of parking in the road outside.
The Hotel is very welcoming and the staff are very helpful. There is a small reception area with a flat screen TV and sofa etc. This leads to a nice bar area and this to the large restaurant. I could see out into the large garden area where there is a nice looking play area for the little ones. The restaurant has a great standard menu and a well-stocked wine cellar, at very reasonable prices.
The room was clean with a modern en-suit and the mattresses are nice and firm. The owner is in the process of modernising the whole Hotel and it is near completion.
A nice touch is the Spa on the ground floor. There is a steam room and standard sauna with a large shower area. Also in this part of the complex is a small sitting area.

To begin with: the hotel was completely full, due to the good reviews on TripAdvisor I guess... There was no parking space for us left on the hotel parking. We could park for free though in the surroundings. The room was basic: shower, no shampoo, no shower cap or other hotel extra's. The price was not that cheap though... I have seen nothing of the spa, no one who explained me anything about it either. In the evening we were chased out of the restaurant and it was hard to get a drink in the bar. The hotel In short basic. Now the positive points: the hosts were very friendly, the rooms were clean and the French bread for breakfast was delicious. I think this is an excellent hotel for older people, but nothing special for us.

with friends we stayed 3 nights in this lovely village just 10mins drive from Colmar centre.
rooms are adequate (ours had a wonderful massive double bed), the garden is fine for a decent day ( unfortunately sept 2012 was rather wet)
we made the mistake of eating in the nearby village of Jedsheim at a pretentious overpriced restaurant `cos it looked good. sadly we had worst meal of many on this tour of eastern france
However we did have 2 brill. meals within the hotel and were sorry it wasn`t 3.
Christophe is the perfect host and we would highly recommend his hotel
