What a treat to stay at this lovely converted farmhouse in the French countryside. All mod cons are included and the house is very well appointed with lots of information about the area for first time visitors. It was a blistering hot July week but the house remained mostly cool throughout which was very much appreciated. The pool is large and very clean and the inflatables, sun loungers and parasols a lovely touch. The area is very quiet, surrounded by rolling fields of sunflowers which makes the location incredibly pretty and we saw some amazing sunsets. The house is also within reasonably easy drive to Bergerac and Bordeaux with their bustling centre centres - although we much preferred the smaller towns nearby which all had markets at various days of the week. All in all this was not a cheap holiday but it was totally worth it for the lovely accommodation and gorgeous countryside. Recommended.
We arrived with excitement and some trepidation. We know this area very well having been >5 times previously, but have sometimes found the houses to be overlooked or lacking privacy. No concerns here.
The house was a wonderful converted 2-300 year old barn, with loads of space and complete privacy. Full of character features and wonderful views of the Dropt valley. the pool was outstanding and the outside space huge, with plenty of sunny & shaded areas. Inside was cool and comfortable with well appointed kitchen.
Wonderful peace & quiet with woods & fields adjacent. The night time sky when clear was amazing.
Couldn't ask for more, will be back.
The cottage is very well equiped. Pool is clean and large and has a high fence, which gives a very private feeling. There are many interesting places to visit at short distance, so your stay can be both relaxing at the pool as cultural.
Spacious gite with everything needed for a comfortable stay. Great location, close to bastide towns of Duras and Eymet. Large private garden and pool area that's not overlooked. We'd definitely recommend for families as a good base for exploring the region.
We have just returned from a fabulous 2 weeks at Le Maubec. The weather was very hot (mid-high 30's) for the first 10 days of our stay, so we made full use of the 10x5m pool.
The house is very well equipped with plenty of room for six people (there was just 2 of us). The master bedroom upstairs was lovely, but we decided to sleep in the downstairs double as it was cooler.
If you can drag yourself away from the pool, Eymet is a great little town to go for a wander and get coffee or lunch. There is also a fairly well stocked little Carrefour Contact supermarket there (approx 15 mins drive). A day trip to Bordeaux is a must (approx 90 mins drive), and we would also recommend visiting Arcachon on the coast.
We would definitely consider a return trip to Le Maubec!
We have just returned from a wonderful weeks stay at Le Maubec.
The house is great with everything you could possibly need for a successful holiday. We had marvellous weather and the large, very clean swimming pool was a real godsend!!
I can thoroughly recommend Le Maubec to anyone looking for a holiday in the area,
